Donald Trump: Our Nation Has Become a ‘Banana Republic’ Breitbart, December 8, 2023

The U.S. is becoming a “Banana Republic,” former President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Friday, blasting the various lawsuits against him.

Trump noted the convenient timing of the various lawsuits against him, explaining that they could have been brought forth years ago, but his political enemies chose to do so now in attempts to put a dent in his presidential campaign.

“All of these Biden ‘Political Opponent’ Lawsuits against me could have been brought 3 years ago, but the slimeballs brought them right in the middle of my very successful campaign for President,” Trump said, listing off what he described as the “J6 Fake Case, where the Obama appointed, Trump Hating Judge, Tanya S. Chutkan, actually had the audacity to schedule the trial THE DAY BEFORE SUPER TUESDAY (always considered the biggest of all Primary days).”

Trump added that this has “been put into serious question when most of the Unselect Committee’s evidence was deleted and destroyed.”

“This illegal act, that would have shown the GUILT of Crazy Nancy Pelosi, and others, should end this Biden Witch Hunt. Our FAILING NATION is now becoming a BANANA REPUBLIC,” he said, adding, “MAGA!”

In August, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan scheduled the trial date for Trump’s federal case, which alleges that he attempted to overturn the 2020 election results, for March 4, 2024 — a single day ahead of Super Tuesday. This date is a far shot from the request from Trump’s legal team, which wanted a spring 2026 date.

Trump, 77, is facing four counts in that case: “Conspiracy to Defraud the United States,” “Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding,” “Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding,” and “Conspiracy Against Rights.”

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) is among those who consider the trial’s timing an act of “election interference.”

All Four “Pillars Of Civilization” Are Under Attack By An “Anti-Human Death-Cult”; Shellenberger, Carlson Unload On Global Elites

As world leaders gathered over the weekend for the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, they faced an uncomfortable reality check from the conference president Sultan Al Jaber, who stated, “there is no science out there, or no scenario out there, that says that the phase-out of fossil fuel is what’s going to achieve 1.5C,” warning that their fossil-fuel policies would “take the world back into caves.”

Nevertheless, no lesser mind than Vice President Kamala Harris pledged another $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund at the summit, seeking to help developing countries adapt to the “climate crisis” as well as decreasing fossil fuel production, according to CNN.

The cult-like worship of (and escalation of) these policies is what led to tonight’s discussion between Tucker Carlson and Michael Shellenberger, author of the must-read “Apocalypse Never”, highlighting the increasingly obvious disconnect between global elites and the general public – most specifically in the context of environmental policies.

“We know that the pillars of civilization are cheap energy, meritocracy, Law and Order, and free speech and all four of those pillars are currently under attack,” warns Shellenberger in his typically erudite and fact-based manner.

The hypocrisy is simply Orwellian.

As Shellenberger recently wrote on his Public substack, flying on private jets to a climate conference to announce plans to make energy even more expensive for working people is bread-and-circuses, except there’s no bread, and the circus consists of rich people celebrating their wealth, morality, and superiority.

Sadly, but clearly, the two highlight the fact that financial interests are behind the push for renewable energy sources, claiming that oligarchs and political figures are promoting expensive and inefficient energy sources to control energy markets.

This is particularly clear from the detrimental influence of the ESG movement on the oil and gas industry.

Simply put, the current environmentalist movement has become nihilistic and anti-human.

Iran warns UN of ‘explosion’ in Mideast after US veto of ceasefire resolution The Times of Israel, December 9, 2023

Iran warned of the threat of an “uncontrollable explosion” of the situation in the Middle East on Saturday, after the United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and the Hamas terror group.

“As long as America supports the crimes of the Zionist regime [Israel] and the continuation of the war… there is a possibility of an uncontrollable explosion in the situation of the region,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the top diplomat of the Islamic Republic, told UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a phone call, according to an Iranian foreign ministry statement.

The Iranian foreign minister praised the UN chief’s decision to use Article 99 of the UN Charter — a move decried by Israel — as “brave action to maintain international peace and security.”

Fighting resumed between Israel and Hamas on December 1 following a one-week temporary truce that was violated by the terror group.

Tehran, which seeks Israel’s elimination, is a major backer of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups. It also has terror proxies across the Middle East, from Hezbollah in Lebanon to the Houthis in Yemen.

As Christians, we need to take the long view of history, to see what the fate of the wicked and the righteous really is. Psalm 73 illustrates the results of allowing our faith in God to be buried under self-pity.

The psalmist became depressed when he contrasted the seeming prosperity of the wicked with the difficulties of living a righteous life. However, his attitude changes completely. He looks at life from the perspective of being under the control of a sovereign, holy God, and concludes that it is the wicked, not the righteous, who have blundered:

A psalm of Asaph.

God is indeed good to Israel,
to the pure in heart.
But as for me, my feet almost slipped;
my steps nearly went astray.
For I envied the arrogant;
I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

They have an easy time until they die,
and their bodies are well fed.
They are not in trouble like others;
they are not afflicted like most people.
Therefore, pride is their necklace,
and violence covers them like a garment.

Their eyes bulge out from fatness;
the imaginations of their hearts run wild.
They mock, and they speak maliciously;
they arrogantly threaten oppression.
They set their mouths against heaven,
and their tongues strut across the earth.
Therefore His people turn to them
and drink in their overflowing words.

The wicked say, “How can God know?
Does the Most High know everything?”
Look at them—the wicked!
They are always at ease,
and they increase their wealth.

Did I purify my heart
and wash my hands in innocence for nothing?
For I am afflicted all day long
and punished every morning.

If I had decided to say these things aloud,
I would have betrayed Your people.
When I tried to understand all this,
it seemed hopeless.
until I entered God’s sanctuary.
Then I understood their destiny.

Indeed, You put them in slippery places;
You make them fall into ruin.

How suddenly they become a desolation!

They come to an end, swept away by terrors.

Like one waking from a dream,
Lord, when arising, You will despise their image.
