That he Gave His only Son…. God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so we could be forgiven. It’s not automatic, everyone must ask Jesus to forgive their sins.
That Whosoever….. Anyone, Everyone, All of Us
Believes in Him…. Believes in Jesus. Believing means put your faith, hope and trust in Him.
Shall not perish…. Perish means to be destroyed. Yes, unbelievers will perish but not until after they serve their sentence in the lake of fire that their sins deserve. Works much like our court system. Not everyone gets the same sentence, it’s based on our crime. Those who have not asked Jesus to Forgive their sins will have to pay for them. After that they will perish and exist no more.
But shall have eternal life…. Believers who ask Jesus to forgive their sins can spend eternity with God.
The bottom line is that we simply Cannot make things right or undo what we did. So the only options we have is to ask Jesus to forgive our wrongdoings (sins) or to pay for them ourselves. That is what Jesus meant when He spoke this. More on this by Clicking Here.
