Occupy LAは、2012年5月1日の「99%」ゼネラル・ストライキを呼びかけている。
この日は、皆で通りに出て圧制を断固拒否し、「99%」のパワーを宣言しよう。
メーデーは、80カ国以上で祝われる国際的な労働者の祭典である。
1890年、「ヘイマーケットの虐殺」（労働者弾圧事件）の追悼をきっかけに実行されたメーデーは、
以後、労働者の権利、移民の権利、反戦などにも主張を広げ発展してきた。
メーデーは、金権政体に最後を突きつけ、「99%」の団結と連帯の力を示す好機である。
ゼネストは古代ローマの身分闘争に端を発する。
H.G.ウェルズが言うには、平民がストを起こしたのは、
「軍隊で勇敢に奉仕してきた友人たちが、貴族の債権者に鎖をかけられ、苦役を負わされるのを見て憤りを感じた」からだ。
債権者。
今のアメリカで言うなら、さしずめ貸金業、銀行、そして企業や市政機関だろうか。
私たちの家を要求し、車を要求し、健康を、教育を、未来をも要求するひとびと。
私たちの呼びかけは、ローマの同士と変わらない。
あるOccupy活動者が、警察に向かってこう叫ぶのを聞いた。
「鎖さえ外れればいいんだ！」
いったいローマ時代から何が変わったというんだろう？
ワシントンD.Cが次の餌食をリストアップしている今、
「私たち」は、「私たち」に信頼しなければならない。
ゼネストは、アメリカ人が今の潮流を着実に変えたいと願うなら、まず行うべきことである。
1966年、フーヴァー戦争・革命・平和研究所は、ゼネストには5種類あると定義した。
- 政治的なマス・ストライキ。投票権などの政治的権利を求めるゼネスト。
– 社会を変える革命的行為としてのゼネスト。
– 結果として社会を変え得る「革命的運動」としてのゼネスト。
– メーデーに行われる1日限りのデモ。世界各国の労働者が連帯を深めることを目的とする。
– 二国間の戦争を阻止するための理論上のメカニズム。
この短いリストを読んでいたら、冒頭のタイトルが浮かんできた。
一緒にゼネストしない？
まず、私たちの選挙権は、選挙のたびにダメージを受けている気がしてならない。
選挙人名簿登録法に大勢の声は取り入れられなかったし、
代議士のほとんどは「1%」な人たちで、
中でもオバマ大統領はウォール街から歴史的にも莫大な寄付を集めている。
「革命的運動としてのゼネスト」も、今回のゼネストに加わる理由だ。
アメリカ人はもう長いこと、体制に対して無力感を抱いていたが、
全国に広まった占拠活動で、その諦めをひるがえした。
そして、「世界各国の労働者の連帯」は言うまでもない。
フーヴァー研究所が最後に付け加えた一項は特に鋭いが、
二国間の戦争を止めるというだけでは、権力に関わる重要なポイントが抜け落ちている。
今年のメーデーの本当の戦場は階級闘争だ。
マリオ・サヴィオの言葉を借りて言えば、「体全部を投げ打ってでも、止めさせろ」。
メーデーは、「1%」に、自分たちの存在を宣言するチャンスだ。
Occupyは、私たちと、子どもたちの生活を金権体制から守るため、ゼネストを実行する。
その日、どんな行動を起こす？
子どもたちが戦地にやられ、ただCEOの私腹を肥やすことのないよう、職場をボイコットする？
