Working Group Reports

1. Legal: Federal court case, in which we are being sued for the
encampment in San Lorenzo Park, sent back to state court. Will go
before Judge Volkman

Also working on strategy to abolish corporate personhood

2. Foreclosures: March to end foreclosures is March 11.

Still gathering signatures on petition to Sheriff Wowack

Next meetings: Wed and Sat at 4 pm at the foreclosed home.

3. Arts: First Fridays in April: Art of the Occupiers at the RCNV at
612 Ocean, we want your art in the show!!!

Next meeting: Friday noon at the resource center for Nonviolence on
Broadway St.

4. Media: Meeting after GA on Sat., welcoming all suggestions and
ideas to improve media functions

5. Garden: planning a demonstration garden. Meeting Wed. 6:30 at the
foreclosed home.

6. DC trip: videos and updates on DC Trip facebook page.

7. Direct Action: planning a bank transfer action in late Feb.

supporting students in their March 1st and 5th actions, supporting
foreclosure march on March 11th

8. infrastructure: Building a new and improved bike cart. meeting:

9. Meditaion: planning flash meditations around town. Meeting Tues

10. Outreach: trying to put together a calendar of various meeting
happening around town, including unions and other community
organizations, It will be good to represent Occupy at other groups’

1. OSC response to Oakland

discussed feelings around diversity of tactices, difficulty of
maintaining non-violent image; we will never be able to control
everyone’s actions (and we’re not trying to), reinforce our mission
statement and nonviolent intentions at all OSC consensed actions,
combat negative/ignorant media coverage of Occupy movement (maybe we
should protest large news outlets?)

2. collaboration w/ UCSC for their actions in early March

UCSC is planning a strike for March 1st, how can we help?

they need:
-food
-people to block entrances
-outreach (maybe we can help to reach the broader community)
-teach-ins for tent university (have something you can teach??)
-occupiers on the buses
-early birds (strike starts at 5 am, early -participation will be
critical and appreciated)

UCSC GAs happen Mondays at 7 pm at Kresge Town Hall

Announcements

-Group forming to discuss opposition to the NDAA, aim to make Santa
Cruz a “Bill of Rights Enforcement Zone” Meeting Monday 5 pm at the
red church (Calvary Episcopal) downtown by the Nickelodeon

- Occupy themed/supportive music wanted for John’s radio show.

- HUFF (Homeless United for Friendship and Freedom) meeting Wed. 10 am
at Sub Rosa. Looking at all public records related to Occupy. Also
starting research comparing number of vacant buildings to number of
homeless people in SC.
