Report: Feds Order National Guard to Close I-495 to Derail Trucker Protest

Conservative group claims Department of Transportation source confirmed plan

A conservative group claims it has spoken to sources within the Department of Transportation who admitted plans by the feds to order armed National Guard troops to close Washington DC’s Interstate Route 495 tomorrow in order to derail a mass protest and potential blockade being organized by a group called Truckers Ride for the Constitution.

The sensational claim is posted on the Freedom Leadership Conference website, as well as prominent conservative blog RedState.com. The annual Freedom Leadership Conference has previously been sponsored by the likes of Judicial Watch and Human Events.

According to Glenn Ryt, the plan to close the route that circles the nation’s capital will be implemented on Friday morning with the aid of armed National Guard troops from Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia who will use trucks, jeeps and armored vehicles to block traffic entering the Beltway.

“These sources at the Department of Transportation have advised off the record that the DOT proposal included the confident belief that the Capitol Beltway shutdown will successfully achieve the twin goals of thwarting the trucker protest scheduled for a three day period starting on Friday, as well as deal another punishing blow to what they call “the crazy wing of the GOP” which refuses to capitulate to their demands to approve a budget that includes Obamacare funding,” writes Ryt.

Demonstrators under the banner of Truckers Ride for the Constitution will arrive in DC tomorrow morning to snarl traffic as part of “a shot across the bow that will ripple across all branches of government.” 10,000 truckers are expected to continually circle the Beltway for three days, taking up two lanes and keeping a third clear to allow access for emergency vehicles.

The group said speculation that the National Guard would block the Beltway was inaccurate, stating, “The Virginia State Police are working closely with our organization and have assured us that no such orders to the National Guard exist.”

A separate Million Vet March will also take place in DC on Sunday morning at the site of the World War II memorial which was barricaded and wired shut by the feds earlier this week.

Bs article. Its already been proven wrong.

This article is false. From the administrator of the Trucker Strike Facebook page entitled “Ride for the Constitution:”"The following is my reply to Paul Joseph Watson at Infowars. Infowars has chosen to go against this legal protest. Infowars has refused to work with the organizers of this event and are now lowering themselves to propaganda. The trucker protest is on!! Please do not be fooled by information coming out of the Alex Jones camp.Dear Mr. Watson while we appreciate your interest in our story we would …appreciate it even further if you reported correctly. To the reader of this article: The Virginia State Police are working closely with our organization and have assured us that no such orders to the National Guard exist. The protest moves forward. Lt. James De Ford whom we are working very closely with assuredridefortheconstitution.org early this morning that the ride was within the legal rights of the people and the government nor local or state law enforcement have no plans to intervene. The National guard has NOT been called in and I495 and the Beltway will be open to the protesters as planned. Mr. Watson if you want to report on this story please report it correctly. You can reach me directly here: [email protected] .. Please print a retraction and contact us for further coverage. Thank you.”

There’s mixed news out there over this truckers protest. Newsmax says it could be a hoax, but this couldn’t exactly be the case, as a trucker group has a website(s) announcing the protest and a meet in Washington with over 50,000 “Likes” at one website. So there’s a call out for truckers to come to a protest. How many truckers will show up may be the question. But what seems to be a somewhat credible quote is this,

While plans go forward for the protest, some within the trucking industry have expressed skepticism of its reach and scope.

“While I applaud the goal of making an impact on Washington, the dates chosen for the actions could not be more idiotically planned,” said Michael Parkhurst, chairman of the Independent Truckers Association and an organizer of previous trucking industry strikes in the 1970s.

The protests will likely fizzle out because they were organized over a weekend and don’t have widespread support, Mr. Parkhurst said.

Even if only one dozen truckers show up, that is more than enough to block 4 lanes 3 trucks deep……

Good point! It wouldn’t take many. But the main guy putting out the sensational story was making stuff up, his name Earl Conlon from Georgia. This is from one reporter of the story:

Turns out I’m just as gullible as any MSM journalist.

This story is a hoax – something I should have realized despite its appearance in USA Today and several other mainstream media outlets. A lot of alarm bells went off in my head – 3,000 truckers saying they’d show up? – which I should have listened to.

It can be hard to get attention for your agenda in a town like Washington, but Georgia trucker Earl Conlon figured out a way: take the Beltway hostage.

Conlon’s comments in a U.S. News & World Report story that he and thousands of truckers from across the country (and possibly Canada) planned to come to the nation’s capital Friday and bring traffic to a standstill on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway zinged across the Web and were picked up by outlets ranging from Fox News to the Huffington Post. The rally was dubbed “Truckers for the Constitution.”

          But it is a hoax.

“The comments to U.S. News were designed to do one thing and one thing only: stir the feather of the mainstream media,” said Conlon, a father of three. “Nothing gets the attention of the mainstream media like some sort of disastrous threat. I knew it was going to ruffle some feathers.”

So while thousands of truckers may indeed come to Washington on Friday and many of them may travel along the inner loop of the Beltway, honking their horns, they won’t intentionally shut down traffic, he said.

“First of all, we know it would not be right to go to D.C. to lock down the city by the Belt loop,” said Conlon, 50, a veteran truck driver who has suffered through more than his share of traffic jams. “That wouldn’t be fair to the people there.”

Disinfo to discourage the truckers. But, best be ready for anything. Be well supplied and keep on truckin’.

    • LAYNALAND

I HAD AN EMAIL FROM RIDERS, SAYING THAT STORY ABOUT THE NATIONAL GUARD IS DIS-INFO…AND MY TAKE ON THIS – TO DISCREDIT THE ALTERNATIVE MEDIA…CHECK OUT EVERY STORY, FOLKS…AND FIND THE SOURCES, WHEN THEY ARE FOUND TO BE DIS-INFO AND CONFRONT THE WRITERS…THAT’S THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE.

      L.

There’s a short video by this young man that seemed very normal and credible on YouTube, who was also announcing some sheriff being fired (some connection to law enforcement?), that he personally called around Virginia State Police, and they had nothing going on with the National Guard, nor themselves any action planned, would not get in the way of truckers. I sort of wonder, also, if the government is shutdown, is the National Guard even working? Would there even be anybody to answer the phone at their offices?

Do you really think that the resident usurper is going to allow this crusade of truckers to do it? YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING!, I am sure there are plans in place to derail it. There not going to say anything about it but you can sure bet there going to involve the military to derail the truckers from shutting down DC. Your a fool to believe that there simply going to allow truckers to get away with this. I am 100% with the truckers and it’s about darn time that american citizens stood up to the crooks running this country to the ground, on the other hand i don’t foresee them just letting this to just happen. My bet is there going to route off the truckers away and there wont be any media covering what’s happening. The only way it’s going to be spread what has happened is that it’s going to trickle thru alternative media via web.
