Israel's Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestine Spurs Protest at Jewish Fed. Center (Video)

After Israel bulldozed another 124 Palestinian homes in January, nearly 50 Palestine solidarity rights defenders disrupted an Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation speech on Jan. 30.
Another 124 Palestinian homes were demolished by Israel in the Jordan Valley this January.
Palastinian solidarity members disrupted an event last week, featuring Ron Leshem, original producer of the Israeli television series Hatufim, adapted for U.S. television as the series Homeland.
Fight Back News reports:
The event TV: An Israeli Success Story was designed to laud Israel’s cultural achievements in arts and entertainment while using those talking points to ignore or whitewash Israel’s illegal existence on stolen land. During the lecture, Leshem described his use of writing to humanize his subjects, who are often members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), and showed a clip of an Israeli prisoner displaying his scars. Leshem spoke of shaping global public opinion, telling the ‘other side of the story’” and of making Israeli media more “cosmopolitan.”
After 20 minutes of the presentation, an activist stood in front of Leshem and loudly announced, “Occupation is not cosmopolitan, it’s genocide!
“If you want to understand the other side, listen to the 2002 Palestinian call for academic and cultural boycott of Israel. Stop filming on occupied territory, stop touring with the IDF, stop advocating for Israel. Occupation is not entertainment!”
During the interruption, about 50 activists in the front of the room wearing t-shirts reading, “Occupation is not education” and “Boycott Israel,” arose from their seats and slowly filed out of the event.
“About 30 people remained in the room, many hurling insults as the activists walked out,” Fight Back News reports.
Israel has poured millions of dollars into United States propaganda it calls “public relations” to counter success of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement on American campuses.

Actually, I have always thought Zionism was a bad mistake, and the Israelis have made it one continual nightmare. No defense of their treatment of Palestinians from me.
Sadly, there are Israelis who would like to do the right things, but Israeli society has become so right-wing that they have no influence. Much like the remaining basically good and well-meaning Americans.
I don’t equate intelligence with education, although some correlation has been demonstrated. In my experience people with both are more likely to be right on issues, but not always, and people with one or the other can be very astute. People with neither are more inclined to fall for demagoguery (you can look the word up), but can still be very decent, with the right instincts.
And then there are the haters, the mentally violent, who are impervious to reason and goodness, and have little useful to add to social discourse.
