French Dam Protester Killed; Protests Defeat Montreal Protest Law; 64 Arrested at VT Gov Office Sit-In

In France 21 Year Old Dam Protester Killed. 17 hours after police attacked again the ZAD resistance in Testet, south of France, a 21 year old ZADist was found dead. During the clashes, witnesses say they saw a man collapse and noticed the police taking him away. On Saturday, October 25th, 5,000 people from all over France gathered at Testet in opposition to the dam project and the violent repression of the ZAD resistance, which is ongoing for years, and has increased in the past months.

Montreal Protest Law Is Being Defeated By Ongoing Protest. After longstanding speculation about whether Montreal’s anti-protest by-law P-6 can more effectively be challenged at theballot box or in the courts, a court decision released on Thursday suggests that the answer is neither: sustained mass action and solidarity in the streets itself may be straining the court system to the point that P-6 will become unenforceable.

64 Arrested at Vermont Governor’s Office Demanding End to Gas Pipeline. Half the group occupied the governor’s office, while the other half stayed in the main lobby of the building.  500 people attended a rally outside of the building, supporting the sit-in.
