Some legislators in Nebraska just can’t seem to take no for an answer. Sources at the capital are telling me that ObamaCare stooges – like Senator Kathy Campbell and Senator John McCollister – are mounting an effort to force ObamaCare expansion on you. . . AGAIN! ObamaCare stooges swore their scheme would bring prices down, since “everyone would have to pay something in.” But only 3% of the “newly insured” are actually paying into this boondoggle. According to Heritage Foundation, 97% of last year’s “newly insured” citizens are on ObamaCare’s expanded Medicaid scheme. As is usually the case, bureaucrats grossly underestimated the number of people that would apply for Medicaid in states that expanded their programs under ObamaCare. In fact, in some states, the number of enrollees was almost three times what was expected. Yet Senators Kathy Campbell and John McCollister are STILL trying to push ObamaCare expansion on Nebraska citizens. And the bad news is more Senators appear to be caving to pressure this year than previous sessions. You see, ObamaCare lackeys have been holding town hall meetings to push their agenda since the 2015 session ended. As you probably know, ObamaCare attempts to lure states into expanding their Medicaid programs by promising to pay certain associated costs for a couple of years. But Nebraska will be expected to spend millions in administrative expenses from the moment the state expands the program. And in 2017, the federal government will reduce the reimbursement rate significantly, leaving our state with the obligation to dole out an even greater portion of the tab. ObamaCare expansion supporters keep trying to sell you a false bill of goods. They claim NOT expanding “leaves Nebraska money” on the table. They say Nebraska Medicaid dollars are being spent in other states. But according to the Congressional Research Service, that’s a lie. They found: “If a state doesn’t implement the ACA Medicaid expansion, the federal funds that would have been used for that state’s expansion are not being sent to another state.” Expanding Medicaid entitlements is just plain wrong for Nebraska. States that have opted to expand their Medicaid programs under ObamaCare went millions of dollars – and in some cases billions of dollars – over budget last year. In Ohio, the Kasich Administration had to take funds from their pre-expansion program that covers the truly needy – such as elderly and disabled people – and used those funds for the optional expansion that covers ABLE-BODIED individuals! That can’t be allowed to happen in Nebraska!
