Islam and Christianity’s view of Jesus Christ Part#1

For centuries Islam and Christianity has been at great odds because of the fundamental difference of how Muslims and Christians view the divinity of Jesus Christ and what he accomplished while he was on earth.  Because of this difference Islamic imams and Christian pastors rarely get together to discuss this and little progress is made. This brief article will introduce the reader to the viewpoints and point you to further study.

In Christianity it is taught that all are sinners since Adam and Eve were deceived by the serpent, Satan, in the Garden of Eden and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Furthermore, this deception leads to the separation of mankind from God. However, God had a plan all along that He would offer a means by which a fallen man could reach Heaven. That means is that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, would come down to earth and place the sins of mankind on His shoulders and be a sacrifice for all who place their faith in Him.

In Islam, Muslims believe that Jesus, like Muhammed, was a prophet from God. They believe that Jesus came to earth to teach and be a prophet like Muhammed. Muslims do not believe that Jesus died on the cross but that a substitute was placed on the cross to die for Jesus. Some study Qur’ans in fact point out that the betrayer of Jesus, Judas Iscariot, actually died for Jesus.

In next article in BeforeItsNews we will delve deep into the Christian understanding and the following article will explore the Islamic understanding. By these logical means, we shall have a better understanding and either continue to differ or reduce our differences.

ALL the Glory to Jesus ALL the time!
