The Story Of Jesus Act I

Jesus of Nazareth is the central figure of Christianity and whom many hold to be the Son of God. Christians also hold Jesus to be the awaited Messiah of the Old Testament.

Virtually all contemporary scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed. While the quest for the historical Jesus has produced little agreement on the gospel narratives and their theological assertions of his divinity, most scholars do agree that Jesus was a Jewish teacher from Galilee in Roman Judea, was baptized by John the Baptist and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman Prefect, Pontius Pilate.

Strangely, some believe that Jesus never existed, and was simply the creation that came from the imagination of men who lived during the first century AD.

Could a person who had never lived affect human history like Jesus has? For me, whether Jesus existed or not is irrelevant, what is truly important is the message: a good man who tried to get the people to follow in his footsteps and to do the right thing by God, regardless of who was in power. He preached to embrace the enemy, help the poor and to call out corruption and greed. The story comes off as a bit of an exaggeration, but behind this imagination the story of the historical Jesus is not good advice to be obeyed, but rather good news to be believed.
