Is A Wicked Demon, “The Prince Of Persia” Responsible For The Misery In The Middle East?

In the prophetic book of Daniel we learn of ‘world rulers,’ who have been exerting their power and control for thousands of years. We read Daniel was deeply concerned about his fellow Jews, who in 537 B.C.E. had returned to Jerusalem  after being in exile in Babylon for many years, the prophet Daniel prayed on behalf of the Jews for three weeks. An Angel had been sent  by God to reassure Daniel but was delayed for three weeks. When the Angel finally reached Daniel he explained why he had been delayed.  He said: “The prince of the royal realm of Persia was standing in opposition to me for twenty-one days.” Daniel 10:2,13
Who was ‘the Prince of Persia’? The angel was obviously not referring to Persian King Cyrus, who at that time looked with favour upon Daniel and the Jewish people. Moreover, how could a mere human king resist a spirit creature for three weeks when it took one angel only one night to destroy 185,000 mighty warriors?
