American evangelical Christian evangelist Billy Graham has died at the age of 99.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed his death to NBC News Wednesday morning.

William Franklin Graham Jr. KBE, known as Billy Graham, is an American evangelical Christian evangelist, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, who became well known internationally after 1949.

Religious figure and Christian evangelist William Franklin Graham, Jr. was born on November 7, 1918, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to parents William and Morrow Graham. Billy Graham was the first of four children raised on the family’s dairy farm in Charlotte.
