The "Golden Rule" - think money can't buy ANYTHING?

And of course by that I mean “he who has the most gold rules.” So yesterday, in my initial ‘Golden Rule’ post, I was saying that the one thing that could actually create some of the crazy situations that conspiracy theorists talk about is money. I contended that given enough money, even the government of an entire nation could be persuaded to do or not do something. I had hoped to find a link at that moment to corroborate or at least support my idea, but wasn’t able to. But I didn’t have to wait long.

This morning, I am on CNN looking through the articles, and see one titled “Mobster’s Body Exhumed from Vatican.” Wait – I didn’t read that right, did I? Mobster’s body – exhumed FROM Vatican…? Like, a mobster was BURIED there? What the…???

So I read the article, which happens to be about a teenage girl who went missing in Rome back in the early 80′s and how some mobster named Enrico “Renatino” De Pedis who may have had something to do with her dissapearance, and how there might be clues found in his crypt – at the Vatican. Now you might be asking yourself as I did, “How in the HEZZNELL (ok, you may not say hezznell, but hey – it’s my blog) did a mobster get a crypt at the Vatican?” Well my friends, is it really any secret? No. And in fact, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for yesterday – proof of my contention that enough money can buy ANYTHING

From the article :

‘De Pedis was gunned down in Rome in 1990 and his body was moved to the basilica some time before 1997, presumably either as part of a secret deal for a massive loan De Pedis made to the Vatican or to protect his tomb from being desecrated by rival gang members.’

Something tells me that they weren’t as much concerned about the desecration, what with that big chunk of change and all.

And so, if a mobster, someone presumably directly responsible for the murder, exploitation and corruption of untold numbers of people can be laid to rest in what is supposed to be the holiest place (outside of Jerusalem of course – hey, I wonder who’s buried there???) because he busted out some big wad of cash, and maybe even hid some bones and remains from the people he murdered, there in his crypt on VATICAN SOIL, tell me, what can’t be bought?

Kinda’ makes the idea that the government could hide the real details of the Kennedy assassination or the existence of ET’s from us seem rather trivial, doesn’t it? I mean, this was done right in the open, for everyone to see. Sickening? You bet. Completely unexpected? Not so much. But for an organization like this – the one that sold a place for a murderer not only to rest, but possibly hide the bodies of his victims – for that organization to say that contraception is wrong, to say that gays are going to hell, to say ANYTHING from any kind of moral highground – THAT, my friends, is completely unbelievable.
