 Without compassion , the Human race is doomed to failure . With compassion we can clearly see beyond ourselves through the eyes of others .
It is this virtue that allows us to put the rock down
instead of

My name is Rich Crankshaw , I am freelance voice actor living in New York City .
This audio is the preface to an Interview I conducted back in July of 2011 when I hosted an internet radio show called the round table .  It’s about  persecution . Despite being free from Chinese prisons for nearly 10 years , for Ying , the persecution is endless .  Please take the time to hear the story from someone who lived it , in her own words . Endless Persecution

  Most Epic Stories have a beginning , a middle and an end . Unfortunately , most Epic Stories are filled with fantasy and sensationalism . It’s the true stories that are all to often overlooked for a better version of the real world . The true stories , while boring to the professional story tellers , and story makers , are far from boring to those who have lived them .

This is a story that has not yet concluded . The end has not yet been told . Stories of reality have to go through there course before they can have an ending . Time writes true stories , a pen simply log’s the happenings after the fact .

This a story that is in the latter half of the middle part , with no end in sight . This a true story about Former prisoner of the Chinese Communist Party , Ying Crankshaw . For Ying , The persecution is not over . Although she has been free from Chinese Black Jails for nearly 10 years , her persecution has been Endless .

This story sounds like it is right out of an epic movie plot . But for Millions of Chinese,  it is real . The Chinese Communist party have been imprisoning Falun Gong Practitioners for over 13 years . Simply because they choose to practice something that The Party can not regulate nor censor .

Falun Gong is a form similar to QiGong ( Chee-gong) practiced throughout China and the world  , by millions . Falun Gong , also known as Falun Dafa or , the Great Law of the Universe ,teaches Truth , Compassion and tolerance . It’s principles , taught by Master Li HongZhi are rooted in Thousands of years of Chinese Culture , and pre-date modern religions by thousands of years . Because of the Meditation and standing exercises , and the principles that guide those who follow ,  practitioners of Falun Gong experience amazing health benefits . It is because of this , that The Chinese Communist party have targeted them for the horrific organ harvesting trade , still happening in China today .

Ying began her tale married to a member of the Education committee of the Communist Party . At the time Falun Gong was practiced freely , and among communist officials . It was later outlawed and those who practiced were forced to give it up , practice in secret , or face imprisonment . Imprisonment in Chinese Black jails are not like imprisonment in other parts of the world . Torture , abuse , brainwashing , forced labor etc. are the norm in Chinese Jails .

Because of Yings first Husbands affiliation with the party , they were quick to make an example of her . She was pressured greatly to give up the practice or face jail time . She refused to denounce the practice . Knowing she stood a chance to loose the wealth and the luxurious lifestyle that came with being married to a communist member , she stayed true to her faith and refused to give it up .

The story for Ying unfolds for her the same as for thousands and thousands of those who practiced Falun Gong . Imprisonment , torture , forced labor , sleep deprived , sent to brainwashing centers. Ying made a choice to give up the life of a wealthy world traveler , for a horrific stay in the notorious Chinese Black jails . The beginning of Ying’s story is as honorable and unimaginable as any Hollywood plot could produce , but it’s real .

The next phase of this story is a little harder to swallow , especially for Ying . All those reading this story can fantasize about how each of us would handle the same scenario that Ying and thousand of others have faced and continue to face . But if we look deep inside for the truth above and beyond fantasy , how many of us know for a fact that our experience would be a fairytale in the making ? The perfect outcome ! We outlast our oppressors and endure unimaginable torture and make it through without compromising our faith and principles . Can you say for certain that you would be able to make your own fairytale under these circumstances ? I can’t ! As tough as I think I am , how would I handle torture ? I really don’t know ! How would I stand in the face of the most evil of atrocities ?

For Ying and others , This part of the story is not the perfect scenario , made for an epic movie plot . For Ying and others , this is part of the story that will never go away . While there were indeed those who endured and never compromised , and either made it out alive or died from torture , there were others who gave in , and denounced their faith in the hopes that the pain would go away . In Yings case , the pain got worse . When dealing with the Chinese Communist party , there is no absolution , there is no perfect scenario or fairytale ending , there is only pain .

With the promise of freedom and a chance to reunite with her Mother ,  father and brother , Ying gave in and denounced her faith knowing she would continue to practice Falun Gong in secret  . Denouncing her faith was done from the breaking point . Something we all have , some are higher than others , but we all have a breaking point . But When dealing with The Chinese Communist party , nothing is as it should be or promised . Because for Ying , it wasn’t good enough that she denounce her faith . Sure she would eventually be free from this hell , but in order to get what she was promised , their was a little more in store for her that they failed to tell her about . And if she didn’t comply , then she would undergo even worse torture than before .

If you are reading this , and you are like me , raised in the “free world” , all of this is something from an epic movie . This doesn’t happen in modern society . So what then ? What was the next torment Ying was forced to undergo ? It wasn’t enough for her to denounce the practice . It was now her task to convince others to do so . Not by choice , or by the Grace of God . Just the opposite , By force , and by the hand of evil . This is the part of the story that many want to pretend didn’t happen , or think that couldn’t happen . But it did , and for Ying , it was the worst part of the entire ordeal . After being promised release and freedom , she was made to stay for as much as 6 more months and forced to convince others to follow her path . To this day , this haunts her and she will never forgive herself for this .

It’s easy for me , or anyone else who has not gone through this to pass judgment . We can only base this experience on an epic movie plot , where the hero endures and even kills the bad guy in the end . But reality would cause me to look at the beginning of this story.  I would also have to look at what Ying has done since she was finally released from Communist jails . To judge this whole story on something I am not 100% sure wouldn’t happen to me  , is wrong .

We know that the beginning of this story started like a fairytale . The principle character refused to denounce her faith and gave up a life of travel and luxury to continue to practice Falun Gong . The next phase is what it is . No one can change it and the one who actually went through it wishes it could change , more than anyone . But what has transpired since then is as honorable as what happened in the beginning . It would have been easy for Ying to just vanish into the Landscape . Pretend this never happened , live her life close to her Mother and her Father and Brother . But that is not what happened .

Yings , “then” husband was desperate for a divorce . Ying wanted out of China , because deep down she knew she would continue to practice Falun Gong . The only way to practice her faith free of persecution would be outside of China . So in order to grant her Husband a divorce , she insisted that he use his influence to get her a student visa for France . She was able to manage this and immediately sought political asylum . Even now , it would have been easy for Ying to just quietly practice Falun Gong and mind her own business . But this is not how this part of the story goes .

Ying spent much of her time over the next few years traveling all over Europe telling her story . Not for money , not for fame . But for ” truth Clarification ” . While you and I were concerned about our 100.00 dollar sneakers , and what the next show is on our big screen TV’s , Ying was sacrificing her time to tell the truth about the CCP to the western world . meanwhile the leaders of the western world were , and still are , sleeping with the CCP , making backroom deals and pretending none of this is going on . As we court the Devil , thousands of Families inside China are torn apart . Thousands of Chinese people are tortured to death simply because they have faith in something other than the Communist ideology .

For Ying , the persecution is Endless . She is not allowed back to her homeland , China . Her parents are not allowed to leave China . She is not able to embrace her Mother and Father and Brother .
For Ying , the persecution is endless . She has no way of knowing exactly how to act or what is expected of her as the guilt of her actions haunt her to this day .
For Ying , the persecution is Endless .  Now even her friends who know how hard she has worked to clarify the truth , shun her ,and no longer allow her to speak about her ordeal in the public arena. She is now being judged by her own people based on an unfortunate turn of events that at least half of them may have done the same thing  . She didn’t die in captivity , she didn’t endure 100% and come out like a fairytale ending . She was introduced to her breaking point and made a mistake . Falun Gong teaches truth , Compassion , and tolerance .

 If you truly have Compassion , how can you overlook the the good parts of this story ? How can you only look at an incident that happened under unimaginable conditions ? How can you not look at the very fact that she even went to prison , was an incredible sacrifice in and of itself , and her entire life afterwards and until now has been dedicated to letting people know the truth behind the Great Wall .

I of all people should know the sacrifices Ying makes and has made . Ying Crankshaw is my wife . Ying is a very talented and skilled designer and could easily make a fortune with her skills . Even I am guilty of looking at all this from a negative point of view . Since we moved to NYC , it has been on my shoulders to manage the bills and make ends meet . Ive had to work my freelance business , work two jobs at times , while Ying volunteered her time 7 days a week in NYC for Human rights groups to clarify the truth . Instead of seeing her compassion and her heart , I only saw a gap in my household that needed her help , and that I felt she was neglecting  .

I am regretful for my lack of compassion , for I too practice falun Gong . But what has really taken me by surprise is to see the Human rights groups that Ying sacrificed so much of her time to help , turn their back on her . For Ying , the persecution is endless . In the face of all she has been through , she continues to speak highly of those who speak badly about her . She continues to hold the human rights groups that now shun her in high regard . She continues to show Truth , Compassion and tolerance , she continues to be a practitioner of Falun Gong .

I know that when Ying shuts her eyes to sleep , she wishes this never happened , she one day hopes to see her Mother and Father again . I know in her heart , Ying wishes this would all go away . But she knows it will not , For Ying , the persecution is endless
