Mayor Lowe Submitted False Information to Law Enforcement During DUI Arrest
New evidence that Mayor Craig Lowe knowing gave “false information” when he told authorities that he had consumed the last of three beers at 10:30 PM on March 20, 2013.
The receipt from the “Gainesville House of Beer” tells a different story. The time-stamp reveals Lowe paid his bill at 01:21 AM on March 21, 2013 – the following day and date.

837.05 False reports to law enforcement authorities.— (1) Except as provided in subsection (2), whoever knowingly gives false information to any law enforcement officer concerning the alleged commission of any crime, commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. (2) Whoever knowingly gives false information to a law enforcement officer concerning the alleged commission of a capital felony, commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. Source: ______________________________________________ Lowe attempted to avoid Law Enforcement by not reporting that his car was involved in a serious collision with property damage as required by law. Instead of calling the police, Lowe called a towing company without realizing the tow truck driver would be required by law to report the accident anyway. Police arrived on the scene when a nearby resident happened to be aware of the event and succeeded in having a Sheriff’s deputy arrive through her own efforts. |
Mayor Lowe told Sherrif’s deputy and FHP that he had “fallen asleep” at the wheel causing his car to crash with enough force to flatten all 4 tires and destroy a public road sign.
On the night of Lowe’s arrest, a Sheriff’s Deputy is clearly heard:
“I can tell by your eyes, you’ve had a lot more than three beers” Source
The receipt below shows that Lowe consumed three, 12 ouce Highland Kashmir IPA beverages that each contain a typical 5.6% alcohol by volume. By comparison, light beers fall mostly under 4.5% ABV.
It’s noteworthy that last Summer, Lowe suffered several weeks of health problems. He attended City meetings with obvious jaundice and signs of abdominal fuid retention. If this was a result of liver disease, it’s not likely Lowe got medical clearance to resume drinking alcoholic beverages.
