‘Event Cloak’ Could Allow Wearer To Step Out of Space and Time

Physicists this week proposed making a tiny “pocket in reality” that can hide entire events. The event cloak bends light not just in space, but also time.

From Dateline Zero – While some researchers around the world aremaking breakthroughs on invisibility cloak projects, other researchers have begun work on something much bigger: a space-time cloak, also called an “event cloak.”

Unlike invisibility cloaks, which bend light around an object, an event cloak would open up a time gap in the light by controlling its speed through optical fibres, and then seal it again to hide all traces of activity within the gap.

The event cloak was dreamed up by Martin McCall‘s team at Imperial College London.
