Redux: Men Walk Into Hell

Incredible men of steel navigate rivers of molten rock and it’s all in a day’s work. These magma freaks don’t chase tornadoes or ski frigid glaciers at the South Pole. That’s for girly men. These magma men want real adrenelin rushes…the kind that only a real volcano vaulter can get: skirting the edge of boiling lakes of 2,000 degree lava.

Magma men dance at the jaws of hell

Bubbling rock beckons them like mindless moths to a naked flame. The incredible video records it all as the daredevils face almost certain death staring down the throat of the angry volcano god dwelling within the bowels of the Marum Volcano in Vanuatu near Australia.

Plumes of thick poisonous clouds spew from the guts of the volcano and the men battle back against heat so awful it can fry fresh bacon in mere seconds.

An automobile would melt into a slag pool in minutes.

Tent time — nap time

Wrapped inside a silvery heat-proof suit one magma freak rappels into the calderon on smoking climbing ropes. And then tt’s onwards into the midst of fiery curtains of destruction toward a narrow ledge more than 1,500 feet down where they can pitch a tent.

A tent.

Weary from the exertion, one magma man decides to take a short nap–surrounded by a roiling hell.
