Scoop! Samsung Creating The iCloud Competitor Known As The SCloud, May Partner With Amazon?

Some officials from Samsung Electronics leaked Samsung’s SCloud, which will directly compete with the Apple’s iCloud. According to officials, SCloud will include the personal storage service ala. Dropbox, PC backup & recovery service and the content delivery network service ala. Windows Azure (which is rumored as the service used for the iCloud as well) or Amazon CloudFront. Samsung will also partner with Amazon for its cloud service, with Amazon providing its 3S (Simple Storage Service) platform to Samsung. Officials did say that this partnership will most likely be a temporary, as Samsung is considering many ideas, such as buying an international internet data center company, that will improve its cloud service.

There’s a rumor, which Samsung denied, that Samsung went to Google first in the fall of last year to talk about the cloud service. Google refused because of its policy of not creating any cloud platform for the specific company. As the result, at least according to the rumor that is, Samsung went to Amazon early this year. Industry insiders from Korea say that this relation already brought many enhancements to the 3S platform, which is not a far-fetched idea considering that Amazon introduced hosting the full static site this February among many changes.

Officials stated that Samsung is already beta-testing the service through Samsung SDS employees and that the company will check for stability of services as well as new services that can be developed additional to services that Samsung plan to launch the SCloud with. The company is planning to launch this after 1 ~ 2 months of beta testing, which means you can expect Samsung to launch SCloud by August or early September, which correlates closely with the iCloud and iOS5′s release.

And with this development, the saga of Samsung vs Apple fight continues.
