Here are some interesting fun fact: the recent winner of the Supreme Ventures Limited Super Lotto prize of JA$232.2 million (US$2.7 million) platinum bars is not only a Jamaican and a resident in the parish of Manchester (hear, hear!!) but has ninety (90) days to collect his prize, the end date of this time period falling on Tuesday December 26^th 2011AD – Boxing Day.

These facts can be easily gleaned from the article “J’can hits Super Lotto jackpot!”, published Wednesday, September 28, 2011 The Jamaica Observer and the article “Super Lotto jackpot won in Jamaica”, published Thursday, September 29th, 2011, the Antigua Observer. Very interesting outcome for a multi-territory game played in Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Barbados, St Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, Antigua, St Maarten and the US Virgin Islands.

Alas, the lucky Jamaican who played the numbers 5, 11, 20, 22, 31 and the Super Ball number of 8 on Tuesday September 28^th 2011AD did not win the full prize of JA$387 million (US$4.5 million) as he (must be a man, as Jamaican women don’t Gamble!) had purchased a JA$150 split prize ticket.

But it’s still a significant amount of cash, if only rivaling the notoriety of the last such large Lottery payout by Supreme Ventures Limited, this time for their Lotto Game, the main reason why it caught my eye, as the statistics surrounding this lottery payout sounds familiar. For the math oriented, the probability of winning Super Lotto is 1,947,792, due to having 36 numbers and 6 positions to play.

And it does indeed! That “large lottery payout” occurred last year on Thursday April 1^st 2010 when fifty four (54) year old Farmer Mr. S. Gayle, also of a Manchester address waltz into Supreme Ventures Limited Headquarters in New Kingston and claimed his prize of JA$240 million (US$2.8 million) as stated in the article “Mystery Winner”, published Thursday 25^th February 2010, Livern Barrett, Gleaner Writer, The Thursday Gleaner.

This bears noting: A figure that curiously is very close to this 2011AD payout under very similar circumstances! Back then the winner played his numbers 6, 7, 27, 33, 34, 35 and Bonus Ball number 12 on Thursday February 11^th 2010AD. Odds for winning that game are 8,347,680, albeit this game is easier to win, oweing to its 37 numbers and 7 numbers to play.

Now, as then, the winner took his own sweet time to collect his prize, eventually collecting the prize on Thursday April 1^st 2010AD, a good forty nine (49) days later as noted in the article “$240M LOTTO JACKPOT CLAIMED”, published Wednesday, March 31, 2010, The Jamaica Observer and the article “Farmer claims $240 million lotto jackpot”, published 2010-03-31 12:59:54 by Go-Jamaica.

So based on this prior situation, I expect that the Manchester native, who may be the exact same individual, is taking his own sweet time to find a suitable wig and disguise. Now, as then, there was much anxiety about the lack of winners for a prize that appeared to be ballooning to extraordinary sizes due to a lack of the publics interest in playing as surmised in the article “Super Lotto, not so super”, published Sunday, June 06, 2010 By Alicia Roache Sunday Finance reporter, The Jamaica Observer.

It may soon be the case that the Public may be able to play Supreme Ventures Limited lottery games from their smartphones using the Telecom Providers 2G, 3G and 4G Wireless Broadband Networks as Data Backhaul to their Terminals as stated in my blog article entitled “Supreme Ventures and Blackberry Gambling – Rihanna S&M on the Dark Side of the Moon”.
