Nikon D800 DSLR 26-Mexapixel Camera, Made for the Videographer

Finally, the wait is over for the much anticipated Nikon D800, a 36.3-megapixel camera that is less expensive to it’s higher end D4 counterpart and is slightly smaller. Even though it doesn’t pack as much hardware as the D4 it has a very attractive price point for the slew of features meant for the professional photographer, and videographer. Nikon says that the D800 is meant for shooting all multimedia content, whether you are photographing high fashion or video graphing a wedding.

The D800 clearly has a the still image specs down, carrying the same 3.2-inch, 921,000-dot LCD and 91,005-pixel RGB metering sensor,  with the capability of creating TIFF files as big as 212 mega bites. It has the same startup time of 0.12 seconds as the D4 running the Expeed 3 processor. A little less than the D4 on the ISO range (up to 6400 but expandable to 25,600) but still offers little noise in many different lighting situations.

But the real talk is about the video capability. Like the D4, the D800 has the same power aperture control, can output uncompressed HDMI and footage can be viewed on both the external monitor and LCD at the same time. It also has the same ability to start and stop recording wirelessly. For something new they also added a new headphone jack on the camera.
