Google Tests Search Results For Gmail Users [Updates]
Google is testing out an expansion of its search engine capabilities to include getting results from your private Gmail account. Just as you search topics and information using Google, you will be able to search your Gmail account without opening it. The trial for now is only accessible in English and for @Gmail.com addresses only, not Google Apps accounts.
Google is rolling out access to the trial to 1 million users initially. After sign-up you will receive a Gmail confirmation if and when the service is available to you.
For avid Gmail users, this new search feature could prove a time saver. Say you’re conducting a Google search for a particular product purchase, not only will you get traditional Google results, but results from your private Gmail account will also be included. This process of course is similar to how you conduct searches within your Gmail account.
Google says that getting Gmail messages in your personal search results makes searches more comprehensive by including content that is relevant to you. This process will only be visible to your account, and not to the general public.
Google will also be delivering better results for displaying information found in your Gmail. If for example you do a search for flight registrations in your account, the results will also include a preview of the actual flight information.
In addition to this new search engine announcement, Google also shows off its Siri-like voice and audio responses search app currently available on Android, and coming soon for iOS.
