Windows 8 already released to Manufacturing OEM partners
Microsoft has announced that they have released their new operating system, the Window 8. The highly anticipated OS was confirmed to have been released to Microsoft’s OEM partners. The final code has been released to them and they can now start to include them on hardware that would become available to the public from around the official October 26 release date.
The announcement also broke down the actual release dates which have been staggered. They said that August 15 has been set as the date to for release to developers. They will be able to download the final version of the OS using their MSDN accounts.
For IT units in organizations that would want to get their hands on the OS for testing to see how it would hold with the organization’s system, they can access the Windows 8 only through their TechNet accounts on the same date. But clients with Microsoft Software Assurance for Windows accounts will be able to get their hands on the new OS from the 16th of August. They will also be able to download Windows 8 Enterprise edition. But the catch here is that they can only be able to download it with the Volume License Service Center. Members of the Microsoft Partner Network will be able to access the Windows 8 from the same date as well. The 20th of August will be the turn for access to be granted to account holders of the Microsoft Action Pack Providers but Volume License clients that do not have Software Assurance will only be able to purchase the new OS through Microsoft Volume License Resellers. It was announced that this will be available to them from the 1st of September.
In a related development, they announced that businesses that are qualified in any support market are free to start submitting what is known as Metro style app for the OS.
