Motorola Outs The Verizon-Bound DROID RAZR M, Launching On 9/13 For $99
Motorola’s new RAZR HD may be getting all the attention, but that’s definitely not all the company was planning to reveal today. As expected, the new (and Verizon-exclusive) RAZR M has just taken the stage here at the Motorola’s “On Display” event
It’s not like the device is any huge surprise — a handful of leaked images effectively spilled the beans earlier this month, and the @EvLeaks Twitter account let some press images fly just prior to the event — but there’s no such thing as too many phones, right?
As such, most of the details are already common knowledge, like the inclusion of a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon MSM8960 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and an eight megapixel situated on the phone’s (Kevlar-clad) back. Despite its tiny frame, the RAZR M also sports a 2,000 mAh battery keeping in line with the power management philosophy that Motorola’s Dennis Woodside talked up earlier in the event. Of course, that’s not to say that Motorola has given up on its “durable” angle too — the now-standard Kevlar is a testament to that, as is the fact that the device’s display is coated with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Speaking of the display, Motorola’s marketing materials make it seem as though may have been the edge-to-edge display device that Bloomberg reported on last week — the company refers to it as “the full screen phone.” Sure, it’s got some slim bezels, but I’m not sure they’re quite there yet.
Just like its big brothers the RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD, the Droid RAZR M is going to come pre-loaded with Chrome, though the on-stage demo didn’t quite pan out the way anyone had hoped. Unlike its brethren though, the RAZR M actually has a concrete release date — it’s going to hit Verizon store shelves on September 13 for $99 with a two-year contract.
