TimesJobs.com has released the second bi-annual edition of their comprehensive hiring report called Recruitex. The report gives information on the demand and supply of jobs in various sectors and the recruitment trends in the country. Largely, the report says that India Inc. will be hiring people significantly in the coming quarters. This is good news! Let us get into the depths of this.

The report says that since the festive season is around the corner, there will be a significant number of promising jobs in this sector, especially in Consumer Durables and FMCG. Recruitment will focus on Sales/Business Development and Marketing in addition to R&D and support. The report says that the recruitments are tending towards fresh talent.  The automobile industry will also see hiring in their core areas like procurement, sales and production.

The Infrastructure sector will see an increase in talent supply. This prediction is based on the level of privatization and the current competition. Retention and talent development are going to be the key aread of focus in the industry.

The ITeS sector is going to grow and spread beyond metros and reach Tier II cities and locations, including rural pockets.  The reason behind this growth is the inexpensive labor and infrastructure costs. This making BPO/ITeS companies to shift further into these regions.

The recent FDI reforms by the government will lead to greater talent demand in the Retail sector. The hiring is largely supposed to be restricted to the junior/entry level. Tier I and Tier II cities are seeing good hiring as evidenced in the cities of Lucknow and Jaipur.

Tier I and Tier II cities are being looked at as the emerging job hubs as hiring is growing in these regions. Some examples of these cities would be Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh etc. The increase in hiring seems to be in the Construction, Automobiles, Consumer Durables/FMCG. Maharashtra has shown the strongest performance  during Jan-June 2012. The state is predicted to be on the same growth trajectory of its previous performance.

Hiring for senior professionals was up in the first half of 2012. Leadership roles will go to those who are well versed with handling changing market conditions. Candidates with 2-5 years experience will be in demand in IT, ITeS and Manufacturing.  Those with less than 2 years experience will find an increased amount of jobs in Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Engineering and Construction.

Here are some more trends that the report provides.

Industry Trends

Ø      Experts predict a rise in demand in engineering services, automobile and the healthcare domain
Ø      The BFSI industry experienced a decline in recruitment due to deprecating rupee value, inflation and growing interest rate. However, trends reflected in the report predict that NBFCs with rural concentration will continue their growth story
Ø      ITeS was the only sector where there is still active hiring due to long-term contracts with clients. This positive hiring trend is anticipated to continue with delivery growing in on-shore business
Ø      Retail also saw some positive hiring activity due to opening FDI in single-brand retail, albeit only at entry level
