Asus launches the Taichi laptop and tablet combo
There are conflicting reports for this all new laptop and tablet combo from Asus. Some say that the Taichi comes with two touch screens, whereas other are saying that only one of the two touch screens (the tablet one!) is touch screen enabled. Well according to Asus, the Taichi does only have one touch screen enable display and that is when it is in tablet mode. So now that has been sorted, we can now take a closer look at the Taichi, it’s a dual screened 11.6 inch display, powered by Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and running the latest operating system from Microsoft, Windows 8. This is a sharp looking machine that would appear to offer the buyer the best of both worlds, a laptop for normal use and tablet for more portable computing.
As a laptop, the Taichi comes with an 11.6 inch screen with 16:9 FHD offering a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions with a built in HD 720p Camera. While as a tablet it has an 11.6 inch screen with a 16:9 display offering the ten finger touch FHD with a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolution and a built in 5M 1080P Camera with Auto Focus. It is powered by the Intel Core i5-3317U or the i7-3517U processor and of course, it is going to be running on the latest Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro operating system. While the video and graphics are coming from the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card.
There is 4 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz available and a choice from a 128 GB or a 256 GB SATA III solid stated drive (SSD) for storage purposes. Networking is provided by a 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN with Intel WIDI support, Bluetooth 4.0 and an external cable that will support 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN. Other features include the mini VGA port, two superfast USB 3.0 ports, a Micro HDMI 1.4 (1080p support) out, audio jack combo and a handy screen switch. In all this neat device measures up at 30.66 cm (W) x 19.93 cm (D) x 1.74 cm (H) and weighs just 1.25 kilos with the 35Whr battery pack in place that Asus say will provide the user with up to five hours of power.
Unfortunately, there are no details on prices or availability for the new and interesting Asus Taichi tablet and laptop combo.
