Vuclip’s Series D Funding Round Raises $ 13Mn. Plans To Innovate Further
A prominent player in the Mobile Video segment, Vuclip has managed to secure US$ 13 Million in Series D Funding Round backed by existing investors NEA and Jafco Ventures. Telecom Company SingTel Innov8 was a new supporter. The funds will be used to match the global expanding demand for such platforms. Additionally, the company intends to focus on bringing-in newer technologies for the same.
Vuclip seems to strive hard to provide techniques that offer technological superiority & operational efficiency in a small package. Despite the growing use of smartphones, Vuclip is confident that the availability of cheaper smartphones not only have a lot of potential left, they will in-fact grow in the near future as evident from a statement by Nickhil Jakatdar, CEO, Vuclip, “We believe that growth in mobile video is being driven by three major factors: the spread of low cost smart phones, rapid growth of mobile-only internet users and demand for compelling content”. The reason for this conviction are the yet-to-be-explored up-and-coming & under-developed markets he shares, “We see this happening in emerging markets in ways that are different compared to developed markets.”
As companies fight for space in the urban markets, saturation is causing reduction in revenues. The only scope of expansion & growth seems to lie in the tier II & III towns & villages. Mobiles have already made a significant foray in such regions. Additionally, cheap tablets supported by Indian manufacturers are expected to bring a fresh round of digital revolution to these regions. With hardware already in place, companies will soon scramble for technologies that will allow them to beam messages wrapped in quality content.
