Handy Chart Maps Out Best (And Worst) Battery Sipping Android Devices

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Pretty much any mid to upper-end smartphone you buy is going to be powerful enough to do pretty much anything you want to do. One might have a bit more lag here and there than another, a bigger screen and unique software installed, but all things considered, they’re all on equal footing. One differentiating factor, however, that almost always gets ignored by manufacturers is battery life. No matter how awesome your software is and no matter how powerful your hardware is, if it is powered by a wimpy battery, your potential for enjoyment/productivity falters.

Finding out the various battery stats for the slew of Android devices on the market is pretty much a massive cluster. You’re left with either a couple of small comparison articles here and there as well as a metric ton (or ten) of individual device articles spread around the internet – certainly nothing easy and quick to glance through.

But there is hope. The Root Uninstaller Team (developer behind Android app “Battery Stats Plus”) has released a new report that breaks down battery life based on collected data from all the phones that have installed it thus far, and lists out the top 15 and bottom 15 Android phones (and tablets) ranked solely by battery life. For the sake of comparing devices quickly, it’s a huge help to have everything in once place. That said, it’s somewhat surprising to see some of the high-end devices with massive batteries not making it to the top of the list. Although, when you factor in their often thirsty processors and large, high resolution displays, it does make sense.

The top/bottom 15 charts aren’t completely sound, though, as we noticed the (seemingly obvious) winner, the RAZR HD MAXX, wasn’t anywhere to be found (though the non-MAXX version was present). Also included in Root Uninstaller’s report: Top 15 Battery Killer apps. Surprisingly, two of the biggest battery killers in the app world are low-level monitoring processes such as “com.qualcomm.privinit” and “com.lge.internal”.

Browsing through the top/bottom 15 devices and apps is definitely worth a few minutes of your time. And if you’re really interested to see how the Android world plays out, Root Uninstaller has the complete database of 5,600+ devices and 58,000+ apps (and growing) on display for you to measure, too. For stat nerds and consumers looking to make an educated purchase alike, Root Uninstaller’s database is invaluable.
