Twitter’s Year In Review: 2012
Just a few short years ago Twitter was nothing more than a communication tool used by nerds and the tech press. But over the last few years, things have changed and Twitter is now used by everyone from tech hounds to grandmothers to smart appliances. Also, Twitter’s recent API changes have shown it to be in the process of pivoting from simple communication tool to news source and media consumption service. Through all of that in 2012, a ton has happened in the world, much of it shared via Twitter.
To highlight the world’s triumphs and tribulations as well as some of the most iconic moments of the year, Twitter has released their 2012 Year In Review video. Some events may be more fresh while others will seem like they already happened years ago. Either way, it’s cool to see Twitter recapping the year’s events.
If you’d like to get in on the nostalgia of 2012 yourselves, Twitter has another card (no pun intended…ok…maybe intended) up their sleeve thanks to a new partnership with Vizify. Simply navigate to 2012.twitter.com and log in with your Twitter credentials to see your own “year in review” with lots of fancy visuals showing most RT’d tweet, most popular keywords tweeted about and more. Keep in mind, however, that Twitter has limited the amount of tweets that can be scanned to 3,200. For someone such as myself, that equates to ~2 weeks. Obviously, your mileage will vary.
Give it a shot!
