CALL FOR ENTRIES: The 2013 Design, Art and Technology Awards and Interactive Exhibition

Are you working at the intersection of creativity and technology?
If so, WE WANT YOU to help us show off the amazing innovation that’s happening in the Pittsburgh region.
Deadline for Entries: Friday, February 15, 2013 

The Pittsburgh Technology Council is seeking entries for the 2013 Design, Art and Technology Awards, southwestern Pennsylvania’s premiere event honoring creativity and innovation. Each year, the Creative Technology Network celebrates the region’s most exciting projects, products, events, companies and works of art. Submit your work now to be chosen as part of  this one-of-a-kind event!

BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE: This year’s DATA Awards is all about YOU.
No submission fees ~ enter up to two projects at no cost!
A Jury by the people ~ for the first time ever, the DATA Awards jury process will include a public voting prior to the event!
An Exhibition for the people ~ the DATA Awards will feature a special exhibition and innovation celebration at a new low cost!

WHO SHOULD ENTER
Anyone working with creative technology! Companies, Artists, Gamers, Makers, App and Software Developers, Roboticists, Musicians, Designers, Museums, Art + Tech Organizations, Advertising Agencies, Corporations working in Research & Creativity, New Media Educators, New Media Creators, and Creative Tech Event Managers and more. HOW TO ENTER
This year, entering for the DATA Awards is easier than ever. Just follow these easy steps:

1. Create a dedicated web page for your submission: If you already have one, thats great! If you dont, setting up one is easy at any of these free platforms:

• WordPress
• About Me
• Tumblr

Your web page will be used to jury your project, and should adhere to the following requirements:

• One, single page with external links to additional content is ideal.
• There must be a dedicated page for each submitted project. No general company websites will be accepted.
• The page should include project general information, history, images and links to relevant press, videos, success stories, etc.
• Keep it short and sweet: Include only the most important information on the page, then provide links to everything else. Jurors will be very busy, and need to have access to the important information quickly and easily. Wow them with the big deal, then send them to links for more info, if they want it.

2. Copy and paste the Finalist Exhibition Registration Form into your submission email. Finalist Packages include project exhibition space at the event and bundles of tickets for the DATA Awards Gala + Interactive Exhibition. The cost of packages is between $200-$500, depending on the package. Packages are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and will sell out. All finalists will receive complimentary tickets to attend the Interactive Exhibition, but packages are required to participate in the exhibit.

3. Submit: After your page is created, send the link, the above form and a one paragraph description of your project to  Kim Harvey at [email protected]. The deadline for all submissions is February 15, 2013. A maximum of 2 entries per person is permitted.

JUDGING
Entries will be judged based on creativity and innovation. Entries will be juried by industry leaders and public voting.

EVENT INFORMATION
The 2013 Design, Art and Technology Awards and Interactive Exhibition will take place on May 15, 2013 from 5-9pm. The event will feature an interactive exhibition of DATA Award finalists, awards ceremony, special Art + Tech performances, the People’s Choice Award, and special guest author, filmmaker and former CNN Bureau Chief, Chip Walter. This event typically attracts upwards of 300 attendees and wide-scale media attention, so its a great way to show your work off to the world!
