[Rumor] Is Samsung bringing a SoLux LCD display instead of an AMOLED display to the Galaxy S IV?
By now you should all know that Mobile World Congress is right around the corner. Like, in just a few days. That means some cool announcements, hands-on demos and close looks at some of this years best new technology in the mobile sphere. While MWC is pure awesomeness for the mobile world, much more so than CES could ever be, Samsung‘s Unpacked event is even more anticipated. We know Samsung has no intentions of showcasing their latest flagship device at MWC. They will hold their own special press conference for the announcement. We still don’t know a whole heck of a lot about the Galaxy S IV though.
The rumor mill runs the gambit. From sporting the Exynos octa-core chip, to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 at 1.9 GHz. (Same chip that is in the HTC One) We have heard front facing speakers like the HTC One is showing off. Along with various screen sizes all hovering around 4.99-inches. The camera is pretty well locked down at 13 MP’s. So is new software called Samsung Orb that is said to take a similar approach to the Photo Sphere on the Nexus devices. Now there is a new set of potentially damning information that pegs Samsung as moving away from the AMOLED screens and into a SoLux screen.
The info is coming through to SamMobile and seems to point towards Samsung using a different type of screen this go around. It is still pulling in a size of 4.99-inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Both of which have been in the rumor mill for some time now. The difference this time is that Samsung could be using a SoLux LCD display instead of their traditional AMOLED display. The full new and improved rumored specs are as follows:
- 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display
- Snapdragon 600 1.9 Ghz
- 2 GB RAM
- 16, 32 or 64 GB
- 13 Megapixel Camera
- 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm
- 138g weight
- Home button with touch buttons
- Plastic back with aluminium sides
- Removable battery
- Black and White Color options
Oh, and they have a blurry cam, late night, in the dark shot of the phone booting up too. So they say anyways. You can make out enough detail to see the Galaxy S IV GT-I9500 logo and a screen. Interestingly enough, you can see a small amount of light hitting the top right edge and corner of the device. While the image could be of any device with a custom boot animation, the design you see in the silhouette remarkably resembles the same sharp corners that were featured on the earlier leaked images of some Samsung Galaxy S IV cases. Maybe it is just an LG device too. Looks like an LG Optimus G Pro or something similar. It is too early to tell and since Samsung keeps the lid on their flagship devices extra tight, we will all have to wait a few more weeks to see what is in store for the world.
