Qualcomm confident about NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 Chip

NVIDIA claims that its latest offering, the Tegra 4 chip is way and away the fastest one on the market. It is confident of having upped the ante and achieved previously unclaimed territory setting new benchmarks for the industry. And it has reason to be pleased with its accomplishment.

This does not seem to have phased the competition though who have sniffed at the news and countered with competing claims. According to Qualcomm its latest Snapdragon creams will sleigh anything NVIDIA has to offer. Raj Talluri, Senior VP of Product Management at Qualcomm says this is no tall claim and provides the reasons. According to him its Snapdragon 800 is the best option because it’s “so much more integrated” because of its LTE capability. Also, it’s “more powerful in general terms.” As an example, Talluri pointed out the 800’s ability to encode and decode 4K.

Pointing to yet another advantage that Qualcomm enjoys that would give it reason to celebrate is that there are more than 50 upcoming devices to feature the Snapdragon 800 chip and many more in the pipeline that will come into effect in the course of the year. An idea has already been afforded of the ZTE Grand Memo which has adequately demonstrated what manufacturers will be able to create once more Snapdragon 800 devices hit their manufacturing facilities. Word on the street has it that it is still a little unclear whether the ZTE Grand Memo uses a 600 or 800 chip but judging by its zippy performance one would be inclined to believe it to be an 800.

For now, the HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro are two prominent new products that are said to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 processor. It is still not known which manufacturer will put its money on the NVIDIA when it is ready later this year, or if whether the company will finally go solo on this flight.
