Samsung’s Game Pad Hints At 6.3-Inch Device, Possibly The Next-Gen Galaxy Note

How big is too big? Samsung is hands down the most assertive in finding out in the mobile sphere. Their original Note pushed the boundaries of what we saw as the upper end for mobile phone size. Then came the Note II. And now that the actual phone, the Galaxy S 4 is out, 5 inches is now “normal”. So, the Galaxy Note has to grow in its next iteration too, right?
Last night at Samsung’s Galaxy S4 event they showed off several other hardware goodies, with one of the most interesting ones being a redesigned Xbox controller gaming controller with the super original name of “Game Pad”. We’ve all seen Android gaming controllers before so this isn’t all that exciting. What is worth pointing out, though, is that the bullet points for the Game Pad list support for devices of 4 inches up to 6.3 inches. As Phonearena notes, the next-gen Galaxy Note has been rumored to pack just that – a 6.3-inch display.
At some point big becomes too big. At 6.3 inches you’re damn near in small tablet category which starts off around the 7 inch mark. Is the 0.7 difference at 6.3 really going to be worthwhile enough? More importantly, how usable is a 6.3-inch phone? Hold up any ~7-inch tablet to your head then look at yourself in the mirror at how ridiculous you look. That’s how ridiculous you’re going to look if the next-gen Note is in fact north of 6 inches.
