Visotech supplies State of the art Vibration Isolation system to a Major Hospital Project in QLD.

The project:

A major hospital project in QLD has recently been fitted with a new energy power plant comprising four diesel generator sets and 2 gas powered units.

These generators are all supported on GERB spring vibration isolation units. The use of GERB vibration isolation systems greatly reduces the vibrations from the generator sets traveling into the supporting structure. This form of active vibration control is very important to protect the structure and its occupants from vibration and noise, but also to reduce the wear caused by vibrations on the power plant itself. Damping was also provided in the form of Sordino. This material is a polymer sleeve that is heat-shrunk around some of the springs in the isolation unit. The addition of Sordino damping to the spring units is required to alleviate shock vibrations caused during start up or shut down of the generator sets, or from external shocks from the structure.

The acoustic engineers on this project specified the use of GERB vibration isolation systems for the power plant. Visotech Pty Ltd from Melbourne supplied the 52 GERB spring units to the mechanical contractor installing the generator sets.
