Sony working on new smartphone with superpowerful camera

Sony may bring its Cyber-shot brand to its flagship smartphone handset Xperia. Sony has neither confirmed nor rejected it. If this is true Nokia and HTC may soon face tough competition as insiders are hinting Sony is thinking of putting in the best camera in the industry in its smartphone.

Better cameras are increasingly getting in vogue as smartphones continue their march towards becoming superphones. It was Nokia’s Lumia 920 that kicked off a new camera war. HTC accepted the challenge and responded with its UltraPixel version. Now it’s Sony’s turn to jump in with Cyber-shot technology. It’s said the new Sony device will include “top of the line” components and feature Carl Zeiss optics.

There isn’t much known about the rest of the device. A source has claimed the new device will flaunt a five-inch colour display. There are also rumours that the new phone will be powerful enough take on the top range phones of BlackBerry and Apple. This is being said about a phone whose details remains murky.

The company is also working on a new device that features Walkman technology. The new phone will come with an amplifier chip and all the other features one expects from a walkman series phone.

Cameras are turning into a big battle arena for smartphone companies. Sony is taking this very seriously. The trend is clear. Mirrorless cameras are fast becoming the new trend. Sony, Nokia, Apple, HTC and Samsung want to make the most of it.
