Nintendo releases note to tell Wii U is not Updated version of Wii

The differences between Nintendo’s gaming consoles Wii and Wii U are not a state secret. They are known to most gamers. Even then some people find it difficult to tell them apart. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says some consumers think Wii U is little more than a Wii with a gaming pad. He said other consumers were even going as far as to think Wii U GamePad was just a peripheral device which can be connected to Wii. He added the company was eager to clear the confusion. In an attempt to educate consumers about the differences, the company has released an online message in which it states: “Wii U is the all-new home console from Nintendo. It’s not just an upgrade — it’s an entirely new system that will change the way you and your family experience games and entertainment.”

Satoru is saying the accessories of Wii work on Wii U. He said the main features of the Wii U, for old consumers, are: a gamepad, backwards compatibility and high-definition graphics. Perhaps the message alone is not sufficient to clear the confusion created by the similar names and backward compatibility of the product.
