Samsung Galaxy S4 update lets you move apps to SD card

Firmware update rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung has come under fire recently for the lack of user-accessible internal storage that is available on the 16GB Samsung Galaxy S4. It is addressing this problem with a partial fix that’s included with a firmware update that has begun rolling out.

The update will enable the movement of apps to the external microSD card, a feature that was not previously available on the S4. It’s not a perfect solution to the problem – you’ll still need an SD card to make it possible – but it’s a start. Samsung has also managed to free up an extra 80MB of memory via the firmware update.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, which was announced earlier this week, has a significantly larger amount of user-accessible internal storage. This suggests that Samsung may have found a way to compress the system install files that are taking up large amount of space and it’s therefore possible that a future update may free up even more space.

• Smart Pause Toggle
• Move Apps to SD Card
• HDR Video (Can record HDR video)
• Semi-transparent status bar
• New Icons in Settings
• Secure boot status (About Phone)
• Increase legibility (Display) (New feature)
