Apple iPhone 5S,iPhone 5C and iOS7 Release Date Announced

This Tuesday was special for iPhone lovers, as Apple showcased the latest update to its popular smart phone at their headquarters in Cupertino, California, in a press event. The event brought to light two new and very different phones – namely iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Tim Cook, the Chief Executive Officer of Apple Inc. announced that there wouldn’t be any price lowering for the older version of iPhone as the company had done at the time of last launch, instead there would two different versions of iPhone – iPhone5C a lower cost version and iPhone 5S a higher cost version.

iPhone 5S will be seen as Apple’s flagship smart phone  and iPhone 5C will be seen as the device available for the accessibility to new iPhone users who don’t want to spend more or look at the purchase as an experiment with iphone.

iPhone 5C will have a 4 inch display and plastic body with hard coated polycarbonate design and some amount of steel reinforcement along with multi-band antenna.

The smart phone will be available in five colour choices – white, green, yellow, pink and blue. The 16GB version of the phone will be available at $99 whereas the 32GB version will be price tagged with $199. One can get the colourful cases for the phones at a price of $29. It will be available in the market from September 20, onwards; however, one can pre-order it from September 13 onwards.

On the other hand, iPhone 5S will have 4 inch display and will be available in silver, gold and space gray colours. Its hardware will now see upgraded A7 chip and it is going to be the first ever smart phone of 64 bits.

“The PC world made the transition from 32 bit to 64 bit and it took years. Today you’re going to see that Apple is going to do it on one day,” Phil Schiller, the Senior Vice President of Apple told the press. He further said that CPU of iPhone 5S smart phones perform 40 times faster compared to the original iPhone smart phones. And as the newer iPhone will come loaded with a brand new chip, known as M7, it will get further upgraded as this new chip has continuous motion data measuring capability.

This chip is said to support accelerometer, compass and gyroscope. With improved battery life, iPhone 5S will support 10 hours of LTE and Wi-Fi browsing and about 4o hours of music and will give 250 hours of standby time.

The camera of the new iPhone will also come with a major upgrade as its pixels will be increased to 1.5u which will be able to capture more light. The camera is capable of detecting the white balance once you launch the app and even include burst mode and true tone flash. One also gets image stabilizer and slow-motion video.

The new iPhone also offer unique fingerprint sensor which is built into its home button and is capable of scanning the sub-epidermal skin layers and offers 360 degree readability.  This unique fingerprint sensor can also be used to unlock the iPhone as well as to make purchases. It is 170 microns thins and has a resolution of 500ppi.

Interestingly, Jony Ive, Senior Vice President of Apple, commenting on the fingerprint sensor and its usability mentioned in a promotional video, “Your fingerprint is one of the best passes in the world. It’s always with you, and no two are exactly alike.”

All the die-hard fans of Apple iPhone will get to buy brand new iPhone 5S from September 20 onwards as it goes on sale then. It will be available in three models: 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB which will be priced at $199, $299, and $399 respectively.

The press event had brought another piece of good news, that iOS7, the redesigned mobile operating system from Apple will available for download from September 18.
