Why Christmas Is Held On 25th December

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

According to popular tradition, Christmas is celebrated on 25th December to honour the birth of Jesus Christ.  However, no records exist in the Bible or elsewhere to suggest that Jesus was actually born on this date, which raises the important question – why is Christmas celebrated on 25th December?  In fact, the selection of this date has its root in pagan traditions.

The Catholic Encyclopaedia admits “there is no month in the year to which respectable authorities have not assigned Christ’s birth” (Catholic Encyclopaedia).  There are, however, a number of reasons to suggest that Jesus was probably not born in December.  Firstly, Luke 2:8 states that on the night of Jesus’ birth “there were also in that same country shepherds living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks.”  Many scholars agree that this would have been unlikely in December, as shepherds would have been keeping their flock under cover during the cold winter months.

Secondly, it is written in the Bible that Joseph and Mary travelled to Bethlehem to register in a Roman census (Luke 2:1-4).  However, such censuses were not taken in winter, when temperatures often dropped below freezing and roads were in poor condition.

Since it appears unlikely that Jesus was born on 25th December, it raises the logical question of why Christmas is celebrated on this date. The answer points back to the Romans’ pagan celebrations of the winter solstice. Three celebrations in particular took place around December 25 – the Bacchanalia, the Saturnalia, and the birthday of the Sun God, Mithra (Catholic Encyclopedia). The Bacchanalia was a time of celebrating Bacchus, the god of wine, while Saturnalia honoured Saturn, the god of time. Lastly, followers of the cult of Mithra celebrated his birthday on 25th December, which was the most holy day of the year for many Romans.

When King Constantine converted to Christianity in the fourth century, he had quite a challenge ahead of him with regard to converting an empire full of pagans.  It was therefore decided to celebrate the birth of Jesus on a date that was already sacred according to pagan traditions. So as a compromise with paganism and in an attempt to give the pagan holidays Christian significance, it was simply decided that the birthday of the sun god would also be the birthday of the son of God. The Catholic Encyclopaedia quotes an early Christian with saying, “O, how wonderfully acted Providence that on that day on which that Sun was born . . . Christ should be born” (Catholic Encyclopedia).

Nice job…. no lie is of the truth was Christ born on Dec 25 No…… Is Satana real No …. etc. God warns in Jerimiah 10: 1-5 regarding the tree. Christmas is a lie

      • Mirabolin

You can have a mass to celebrate a birth anyday. And that Jeremiad might just as well be directed at the crucifixion.

      • TruthSetsFree

Christ mass originates from child mass. Child mass was celebrated on Dec 25th. Mass means death. Merry Christ’s death? What’s merry about that? On Dec 25th pagans celebrated child mass. They made a list of all of the material things that they wanted in the coming year and sacrificed their child to the god of prosperity, Chemosh or Molech. They killed their own child for a promise of possessions. They heated the pot bellied god until it was red hot for the sacrifice. Who has a pot belly and a red suit?
Constantine merged the pagan holidays into the church to pacify the pagans. He killed those who celebrated the Jewish feasts, which many Christians did. Tradition was not sacred in Jesus day and it’s not sacred now. God did warn about the tree. It is a phallic symbol like the obelisk in the Vatican courtyard. The gods were said to have been castrated and their silver and gold balls hung on the tree. Shall we just keep that tradition? That which is not truth is a lie and a deception. Choose to stop propagating the lie and make a difference. Christmas was not celebrated in the US until the 1900′s, it was outlawed. The puritans in England and later in Massachusetts outlawed it as witchcraft.
Celebrate Christ every day, observe the feasts that God established.

Your Elites practice the ultimate sacreligious rites as these Satanists make sure God is blamed for all ills. but God in his infinite wisdom doesnt try to counter for its truly up to us to find the truth and mathew 7: 12-14 will do just that for a person who prays in need for an answer will recieve if he upbraideth not. So to Satan and his perversion as per revelation has been given its final hour.

The Christian calender is based on the birth of Christ. That being the case, how could Jesus have been born on 25th Dec when the Christian calender wasn’t even invented at that time?

The worship of Nimrod and his wife……..The two Babylons….. .

    • King David

Holy Spirit revelation is the ONLY revelation we are to follow for truth. Jesus said HE is the truth. “Christ’s” mass is nothing more than a pagan ritualistic festival centered not around a sun god, but the Son of the sun god Baal–Nimrod, Tammuz, which is referenced in among other scriptures, Ezekiel 8.

Here’s a link to a very provoking video on this very subject and many other festivals as how they relate to the heart of God through His word. The church has been scammed by the enemy and we, in our ignorance have simply fallen into tradition and accepted, for lack of a better word, being unholy, when God himself has called us to holy living in His Son and under the blood of Jesus. It’s really time we rise up and be His bride, and the only way to do it is to know His heart.

Predating Mithra, was Tammuz or Dumuzi of babylonian and sumerian descent respectively. The important thing is the intent behind the celebration, not the date, the tree, or the yule log. Some people just get their rocks off calling other people evil, wrong or satanists. I hope those people can find a little joy somehow. P.s. Or sheeple, that’s another one that seems to be couched in an illusory superiority.

Jesus was born on either Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) or Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) both of which are in September. He may have been conceived of the Holy Spirit on Dec 25 but that’s only speculation. You can find out more at http://www.itshisstory.com

We chose to celebrate President’s Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day when we wanted… We can choose any day or everyday to celebrate Jesus’ birth or His existence for that matter… I haven’t seen a law that says we should celebrate on any certain day.
As for myself, I know the truth of His existence and that has set me free from the bondage of sin in my life, unlike most of the world. I no longer live to please myself, but He who gave me life through His Son, Jesus. No non-believer can understand this until they receive the Holy Spirit who makes known the Author of Truth.
This is a dark world, which we live in and it is getting darker and darker, denying the truth and accepting the lies of the godless more and more everyday.
The evidence is great with over 300 direct prophecies pertaining to the coming of Christ, His ministry, His death and His resurrection…. It is only those who are wise in their own eyes that would deny this evidence and all the scientific evidence which proves the truth of God’s WORD.

1 Corinthians 1:20-21 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

The early Christians celebrated only Good Friday/ Easter because they said that everybody had been born–nothing special–but only Jesus had been resurrected. I’ve heard that the rationale for
co-opting Saturnalia was that darkness was a metaphor for sin. Before the Winter Solstice, the world (well, the Northern Hemispher) grows less dark, just as the world was expected to become less sinful after the birth of Christ!

“However, no records exist in the Bible or elsewhere to suggest that Jesus was actually born on this date,…”

No records exist to even suggest “Jesus” is anywhere close to the name of the Savior. The letter “J” and its sound did not exist in any world language until the 17th century. No transliteration of His name from any extant pre-Constantine text would even come close to that rendering. Yet in Hebrew, the name is presented over 250 times, and the name of the Father nearly 7,000 times. The scribes and the clerics suppress the names throughout the “Bible” (named for the sun goddess Biblos). If you worship “Jesus” then you don’t even know the name that Scripture says you are to call upon. Or you may know Him as “Lord”, the ancient Hebrew name for Satan (Baal).

So it’s no wonder you substitute pagan festivals for the appointed meeting times. If you don’t even know the proper name to call upon, how can you have a relationship? December 25th is just a small example of the deception permeating “Christianity”.

      • Mirabolin

So which versions of the Church that wrote the new testament do you attend?

        • Anonymous

I have no Church and I have no religion. Read what our Creator says in His own testimony about the way He views religion and about man’s adherence to its traditions. The Words are preserved quite accurately in the Torah, as the Dead Sea Scrolls have attested to. The “New Testament” is indeed, as you wrote, the writing of the “Church” in large part. It is not only not inspired, it is seriously flawed by thousands of discrepancies among various sources, clerical copy edits for religious and political purposes, etc. It is so errant as to be in large part, useless.

So I am probably damned since I refuse to join the popular (and broad is the way) path of billions of Christians.

For the correct answer see Rick Larson’s web site or DVD [which is Amazon's best seller for over a year] “The Bethlehem Star”.
Summary, Fulfilling OT Biblical prophecies … God placed [before man existed] unique, once in history, star constellation precisely coincident with Christ’s conception [fall 3BC], Birth [June 2BC], Magi visitation [Dec.25, 2BC] and Death [33AD]. The site and DVD gives exact backup with secular data research and scientific celestial proof via NASA equivalent software,
So besides the Catholics conversion of the pagan winter solstice [shortest daylight hours] worship into a “Christ” “Mass” we have the true giving of gifts in remembrance of the Babylonian wise-men [remnant of Daniel's men who remained after the Jews returned after captivity] who saw and understood these celestial constellations and came to worship the promised king which they may have believed should be found in Jerusalem and from where they saw the “Star” over “Bethlehem”… you know the rest.

It’s the ‘solstice’, and the annual solstice was celebrated around the world, and in Roman times it was called the ‘Saturnalia’ with Dec. 25th being the peak of the week-long celebration of the ‘return of the invincible sun’. Dec. 25th was the ‘Brumalia’.

Then the pagan popes tried to ‘Christianize’ the pagan festivals. It was never ‘of Christ’ to begin with. It’s not in the scriptures.

The death is Christ is celebrated – it’s called the Passover.

Jesus was born on 9-11, hence why the luciferian run govt chose that date to mark it with a tragedy..

December 25th is Nimrods birthday–The Christmas tree represents Nimrods penis as it was the only part of his body not found—

His wife started the tree tradition and hung balls on it, the garland is wrapped around it to signify a snake…The 5 pointed star at the top represents a pentagram..

The whole thing is one big satanic celebration…

The people of Babylon would make a “wish list” for Moloch and then they would place their babies to be burned alive into the arms of Moloch along with their wish list, they believed that by offering up their babies to this god on December 25th, they would receive everything that they had requested on their wish list in the year to come…

The image of Moloch was a giant statue made of iron…Underneath this image was an oven, and it was stoked with wood until it became bright red…The image resembled today’s modern day “Satan Claws” (Santa Claus) and people are still “offering up their children” to Moloch the god of prosperity and materialism when they ignorantly allow their children to sit on the lap of the image of Santa/Satan…

Good golly, ignorance abounds. Follow the study in Luke ch 1 and learn the separate courses performed in the temple at Jerusalem, follow Zachariah’s course of Abijah and do the math…Christ Jesus was not born in December, rather the Angel Gabriel visited Mary Dec. 25th to inform her that she was pregnant with the Savior of the World. Christ was born in September at the Feast of Tabernacles. The Bible is concrete…people are slow-witted. December 25th is the date of the Immaculate Conception. MERRY CHRISTMAS, EARTHLINGS

In the book; (The Quest for what Angels know) by K. Graham Hawk; The following information was found…………………………………………………………………………………….. The Egyptians religion was the Sun God Horus; 3000 BC, he was the son of Isis; she was named in the (Lost book of Enki) as the head DNA scientist who created man. Her husband Osiris was killed and dismembered by set then reassembled and brought back to life, (minus his penis), by Isis. Horus (also means light) were Set (also met dark), Horus was born on Dec. 25; he was born of Isis or of the virgin as it is written, Star in the east, adorned by three kings, teacher at twelve, baptized and ministry at age 30, 12 disciples. He performed miracles, was called the Lamb of God, he was betrayed and crucified, dead for three days and then resurrected. The father and the Holy Ghost was Osiris, because he was brought back from the dead and Horus was the son and the Sun God. The sun stops moving north on Dec 21 and holds its orbit for three days and on Dec 25 it starts moving south and is considered born again. You have to wonder why we celebrate Jesus birthday on this date. Jesus was here for his father’s business, which is God (Yahweh) and his Sabbath day is Saturday, so why do we go to church on SUN- day. It is very possible that the Romans or the Catholic Church, through the New Testament altered the truth of Jesus to mimic this sun god religion as these others beings apparently have. Attis; 1200 BC; born of a virgin on Dec 25, then crucified and died for three days and then resurrected. Krishna; 900 BC born of a virgin, star in the east, performed miracles and was resurrected. Dionysus; 500 BC, born Dec 25, of a virgin, performed miracles, called king of kings, the alpha and omega and resurrected after death. Mithra; 1200 BC, born of a virgin on Dec 25, had twelve disciples, performed miracles, dead for three days then resurrected, sometimes called the light and the way and his day of worship is Sunday. Other names with similar worship would be Buda Sakia, Salivahana, Zulis, or Zhule, Crite, Zoroaster ad Mithra, Indri, Bali, Iao, Adad, Deva Tat, Alcides, Mikado, Beddru, Thor, Cadmus, and of course Prometheus and Adonis .

Satan only corrupts and imitates. That is why these pagan festivals correspond to Yahowah’s appointed meetings.

    • scott

The big question is why are we celebrating the birth of Christ. He had done nothing by being born. His life and ministry is what is of importance. His death was the event that changed the covenants for the world. Nero ordered all male children under the age of two destroyed. So the Romans didn’t know the time of the birth of Christ. The time of His birth has no more importance than ours. The birth worship is a Catholic/pagan ritual. Plus the mother worship was a Roman thing. When Felicia was killed in the Colosseum of Rome the “people” hissed (booed) because she was naked. It was ok to feed her to wild animals, but uncool to violate the mother worship.

The reason they can’t agree on an exact date for Christs birth is that He was never born in the first place. There is zero reason to believe that a magical god baby named Jesus was ever born. The only proof they have is silly little story’s and folk lore. As far as the adult Christ, well there was probably thousands of people in the area by that name so it’s not special. This idea that Jeaus was the only son of one of the many gods but actually that same god himself is so stupid I can’t hardly stop laughing. So let me get this right, God is upset with his creation, He then creates his own son by impregnating a woman without her permission so that he can actually be born. Later when the time is right gods son wich is really himself makes a sacrifice to himself by giving himself up to himself…what? People really believe this crap? Sounds a lot like a man made story to gain control to me, what’s my proof…..very simple….there is zero evidence of any god ever showing up anyplace on earth ever in our history…..

i thank Yahuwah, our Creator, that christmas is over. read all the bible, folks. He tells us His feast days. what date they are on and how to celebrate. they are meaningful and beautiful. we worship Yahuwah how He says to do it. not how man says to do it. His name and His Son’s name are to be found in the old manuscripts that we still have today. think of the golden calf they made to worship the Father. 3 thousand were killed on that day. think of king david when they got the ark of the covenant back and put it on a cart. david’s friend put his hand out to steady the ark. because this was against the Word of Yahuwah, he was immediately killed. think of adab and nabihu (can’t remember names, sorry) aaron’s sons, that burned strange incense by the ark, were immediately killed even though they were good people. find out what the Father says sin is. not man. many good people i love will not make it on judgement day. i am not their judge. i love you guys. sigh. peace

There is a vast difference between the facts and the truth. The facts are clearly, and reasonably accurately presented above.

The truth is that one day a year I turn my eyes toward heaven and thank God for the birth of Jesus. One day a year I rehearse with my family the truths of this amazing event in history, the day that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The truth is that on this day the world is more open to hearing the gospel of Christ than on any other day of the year. The truth is that I use this day to share the good news of Christ with that world.

I bet God is fierce mad at me for not picking the right day

The actual birth of Jesus is on 05-23. I heard this in 1983 from old listeners of a spirit, a holy spirit, called Ama (God the Father) when I first went to the Session Hall. From 2004 to 2006, I checked out if there is any ring of truth in the date. I found it to be true and correct. The year that I found: 33 BC. The results of my study is in http://aristean.org/birthmay23.htm .

      • Mirabolin

I think that there is a Rabbinic custom that considers that Jesus was born on the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av (between July and August).

On the Biblical calendar, the fifth month of the year (counting from Nisan) is called Av (אָב) in Jewish tradition. The month of Av is traditionally regarded as the most tragic in the Jewish calendar. On the first day of this month, Aaron (the first High Priest of Israel) died (Num. 33:38), and later both of the Holy Temples were destroyed on the ninth of Av.

The ninth of Av (i.e., Tishah B’Av) is the lowest point of a three week period of mourning that began with the fast of the 17th of Tammuz (undertaken to recall the first breach in the walls of Jerusalem by the Babylonians before the First Temple was destroyed). During this period, weddings and parties are forbidden. It is a time for solemn reflection and mourning for Israel. The Temple itself was destroyed three weeks later, on the Ninth of Av.

The real reason we know that Jesus was born around December 25 is that according to esoteric literature a TRUE PROPHET dies on the same day he is conceived AND we know that Jesus died around Passover in 33 AD.

On the Sunday before the crucifixion Jesus entered triumphantly into Jerusalem.

This entire week was Passover and Jesus, the Passover Lamb, died as per the Jewish customs and to fulfill prophecy.

So, if Jesus died on Friday, in Passover week, in 33 AD, then he would have been conceived around Passover which puts his date of birth on December 25

That the shepherds were in the fields tending to their flocks suggests lambing time, which is also at about the same time as Passover, the Passover lamb being one yr old from the previous year’s lambing. It would also have coincided with Aries, the sign of the male sheep and given that He suffered every indignity possible, being butchered on His birthday would not be be improbable.

The even more special time, Passover, was highjacked by the Roman tradition of Easter. In fact, most of Catholicism only really means anything to Catholics and is derived from the Babylonian religion of Nimrod, whose birthday is celebrated as Dec 25th too.
