Awaaz Takes On The VoIP Market With Innovative Call Routing

Awaaz is attempting to revolutionize the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) market with innovative call authoring and routine techniques.

Developed by Anuj Jain, Awaaz App is a clever amalgamation of mobile number authentication as well as internet based call routing to offer a simplistic calling solution to the end–user, while saving on the call–costs.

How does Awaaz work? The most rudimentary difference between Awaaz and other products like Skype is that it is not a standalone application. Awaaz is more like a plugin that sits in between the dialer and actual call–connection.

When a user makes a call from his phone dialer, the app automatically takes over the call. However, it is essential to know that both phones must have Awaaz installed for the call to be connected via the Internet. The user needn’t launch the app to make the calls as Awaaz works in the background to continuously detect what number the user is calling and whether that number has Awaaz installed.

The makers of the app are so confident that the app needs to be simply installed. One may not start the app except when it is updated. The app doesn’t even have a dialer of its own, but shows which of the contacts are currently online.

The novelty of the app is the authentication technique. Just like WhatsApp, Awaaz uses the Mobile Number as the primary identity. This saves a lot of trouble of registering the app with a username and then filling out the login window.

The maker has ensured that the communication taking place over the internet is secured. All calls are said to be encrypted with a 256-bit AES key exchanged using 2048-bit RSA. Moreover, a new key is generated for each call which makes the virtual signature of every call very unique and near impossible to trace or monitor.

Anuj has confirmed there is an iOS version in the pipeline, but it won’t have automated call handling. You can download the app here.
