Blackberry Restocks The Z10 After Price Cut Led To Sellout

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Blackberry seems have sold a lot of Z10 units in India after it slashed the price of the handset heavily almost a month ago. The Z10, you might remember, was supposed to be the Blackberry flagship with the BB10 OS. It was Blackberry’s last stab at being relevant in the fast moving smartphone segment. However, it didn’t work out as planned. The new platform didn’t fly with users and especially those in India because of the prohibitive cost of the smartphone.

Now, that Blackberry has gone through the motion of changing management and planning new strategies to stay relevant in the tech space, it has also understood that slashing prices on its products may be the right way to clear out their inventory. The company is calling these price slashes, a limited offer which shows Blackberry’s commitment to Indian users. The price has now climbed down from the lofty heights of Rs.43,490 to Rs. 17,990. The company stresses that this is a limited time offer and this pricing might not reflect the actual price of the phone.

The company is also claiming that since they rolled out this pricing, sales have been through the roof. In fact they say that the company exhausted their stock within a week of the promotion going live and has only just managed to restock the product.  The product can now be purchased across the Blackberry retail network and on online platforms like Flipkart, according to a Blackberry statement.

However, my search on Flipkart and other sites did not show Z10 having the Rs.17,990 price. The device is priced at Rs.27,990 for the charcoal black variant and Rs.24,990 for the pure white one, which seems to be out of stock. Maybe the site still has to be updated.
