Have particle physicists actually falsified both quantum mechanics and special relativity?

If there indeed are ”Higgs particles” in this world, as particle physicists at Cern claim to have discovered, then “particles” do actually equal “fields”.

This claim does, however, run counter to the scientific development since James Clerk Maxwell’s equations of 1865 unifying electromagnetic phenomena. These equations showed that the apparently distinct phenomena of electricity and magnetism (ie, fields) actually are intimately related through a common theoretical framework. The most remarkable feature with this framework is that it contains a wave solution,  and, since it’s reasonable to assume that a wave travels in a medium, the framework led to an empirical search for the “ether” that “supports” the wave (much like today’s empirical search for “Higgs particle”). This search did, however, fail in the Michelson–Morely experiment in 1887 to detect the motion of the Earth through the ether, a failure which instead led to the discovery of quantum mechanics and special relativity, wherein particles and fields are distinct.

So, if today’s particle physicists indeed have discovered a particle (ie, “Higgs particle”) that unites particles and fields, then they have actually falsified both quantum mechanics and special relativity. Their claim does thus give rise to the question: have they actually falsified both quantum mechanics and special relativity or are just imposters? (These are the only alternatives).
