Nokia Unveils Lumia 930, 630, & 635 Phones Running Windows 8.1

Nokia today took wraps of three new Lumia smartphones at the ongoing Microsoft Build Conference. The Lumia 930, Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 run on Windows 8.1. All the three devices were announced by Stephen Elop, executive vice president of Nokia’s Devices & Services division, at the Build 2014 developer conference.

Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 are budget handsets that support 3G and 4G respectively. Both the devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC with 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of built-in memory, and microSD card slot.

The Lumia 630 is an update to Lumia 520 which is one of the best selling cheap smartphones in many emerging markets. It comes in two variants: a standard single-SIM 3G version and a 3G dual-SIM model. It’s the first Lumia phone to support two SIM cards, a feature enabled by the Windows Phone 8.1 update. In terms of display both the devices get 4.5-inch FWVGA display with 480×854 pixels of resolution, leading to pixel density of 221 ppi. The ClearBlack LCD display also gets a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 get 5MP rear camera and no front camera which might be a let down for selfie enthusiasts. Nokia announced that the Lumia 630 will cost $159 (Rs, 10,000) for the single SIM variant and $169 for dual SIM while Lumia 635 will be priced at $189. The former phone will start selling in Asia Russia, China, India, and Europe. On the other hand, the Lumia 635 will be available starting July across regions, including the US, for a price of $189 that amounts to approximately Rs 11,000.

Along with two mid range smartphones, Nokia also announced its flagship Lumia 930 that boasts of 5 inch full HD display  It is a high-end phone with aluminum frame, Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2GHZ, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 20MP camera.  It comes is Bright Orange, Bright Green, Black and White colours, and runs on a 2420mAh battery.

Priced at $599, the device will be available in India Europe, Asia, India, Middle East and Latin America from June. The two budget handsets will play a key role in increasing Nokia’s share in the smartphone market.
