Bigfoot Sighting In British Columbia Goes Viral On YouTube
It seems every few months some new evidence of Bigfoot surfaces on the web and a new video purportedly capturing the elusive beast on film is setting the Internet on fire this week.
A Canadian hiker by the name of Myles Lamont captured the footage while hiking the Tantalus Range, north of Vancouver, British Columbia. He and his friends spotted something moving along a ridge farther away and pulled out a video camera and began filming.
The footage, which was shot two years ago, has gathered more than half a million views since being uploaded to YouTube less than two weeks ago.

Lamont noted on the video’s description that it “was only uploaded for the benefit of a couple of friends, we had no intention for it to gather the interest it has. We are not claiming this to be anything other than a strange encounter.”
Lamont then gave several viewpoints on the overall encounter.
First, he noted he and his friends were able to view the creature much better than what the video portrayed due to the fact it was a simple point-and-shoot camera. He maintains that the subject was clearly bipedal and was not wearing “snowshoes or a backpack and wearing all one coloured clothing.”
He said that movement in the type of terrain over soft snow would be very difficult without snowshoes, especially for the distance and the speed at which the subject appeared to travel.
Lamont, who says he is a wildlife biologist, is familiar with bears and said that they had seen bears on the approach to this summit in the past and their video definitely does not show a bear or any other wild animals making that trek.
“If that’s human, why would you walk up that ridge or that snow line?” said Lamont, as cited by The Mirror UK. “Why would he not just go straight down?
“I don’t know how high we are, but we’re probably close to 7,000 feet and this guy’s just scampering up snow lines like it’s no big deal,” he added.
“Perhaps the most reasonable explanation for this video is a very ill prepared hiker, hiking up a difficult section of snowline as opposed to a much easier route, one who is very physically fit and able to cover ground in unusually quick fashion and must have had very large feet as we were breaking through snow crust in just our boots,” Lamont wrote as one of the explanations of the subject in the video info.
Bigfoot, known as Sasquatch to Native Americans, is a legendary cryptid – a creature that has been suggested to exist but has not been officially discovered and documented – that is said to roam the forests and mountains of North America. Thousands of witnesses have come forward claiming to have seen the elusive creature and purported evidence of the beast continues to come in, typically in the form of often contaminated DNA samples, mysterious footprint casts, blurry photographs and grainy videos.
Lamont maintains, however, that he uploaded the video to show his friends, not as a way to generate interest in a supposed footage of the legendary Bigfoot.
The legend of Bigfoot has become so popular that people have offered up huge sums of cash for concrete proof that the beast exists. A recent reality show on Spike TV offered contestants a chance at $10 million if they made a definitive claim that Sasquatch is real.
Also, recent research into more than a hundred DNA samples uncovered evidence that some humanoid primate is lurking out there somewhere — yet nothing concrete has come out of the woodwork. As well, a British researcher led his own investigation into the Yeti, the Asian version of Sasquatch, claiming that the legendary Himalayan snowman is a polar bear hybrid.
