How to Fix Corrupted Csrss.exe

Csrss.exe is an executable file included in the Microsoft Windows operating system. If he is in the System 32 folder, it is not a Trojan horse or virus. If it becomes corrupted, the file is placed in other directories and should be eliminated. You should never delete the file from the System 32 folder, since it is a critical file used by Windows. This problem is caused when Microsoft’s profile is corrupt. To solve the problem, delete the corrupted profile and create a new one. Here are directions on how to fix this problem.

1, click the right mouse button on the taskbar and click “Start Task Manager” to open the Windows Task Manager window. Click the “Processes” tab. Click on the “Image Name” to list the processes alphabetically.

2, Find “csrss.exe” in the process list. Look next to the file in the User Name field. It should be listed as “System 32″. There should be only one listed csrss.exe process. If any listed csrss.exe file that are not in the System 32 directory, then right click the file and select “End Process.” Do this for each listed.

3, Click the Windows logo button, click “Control Panel”, click “User Accounts and Family Safety”, and then click “User Accounts”.

4, Click “Manage another account”. If you are prompted for an administrator password, enter the password and click “Create a new account.” Enter the name you want to give account, select an account type and click “Create Account”. Close the User Account screen and logout.

5, Log on as a user other than the new user you created. Click the Windows logo button and click “Documents”.

6, Click “Tools” menu at the top, then click on “Folder Options”. Click the “View” tab, and select “Show hidden files and folders”. Deselect the check box “Hide protected operating system files” and click “OK”.

7, Double-click the folder to browse to the old username folder. The default is “C: \ Users \ [username]“, where “username” is the profile name from which you want to copy files

8, Hold the CTRL key on. Your keyboard and select the files you want to copy with the exception of “Ntuser.dat”, “Ntuser.dat.log” and “Ntuser.ini”. Click “Edit” in the menu bar at the top and then click “Copy”.

9, Navigate to the new user folder. The default is “C: \ Users \ [username]“, where “username” is the new user profile you created. Click “Edit” in the menu bar at the top and select “Paste”.

10, Delete the old user profile. Click the Windows logo button, type “delete user” in the search field and press “Enter.”

11, Click the “Add or remove user accounts” link. Double-click the old user account and click the “Delete Account”. Click the “Delete Files” button in the confirmation screen and then click the “Delete Account” button. Windows 7 deletes the account. It takes only minutes to complete. Log off and log back on as the new user.
