How to Fix My Slow Pc

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

How many times have you complained that the PC is slow in the last months? Surely many. And this is a problem that troubles a lot of PC users. The truth is that in most cases, the main reason why your PC is slow is an infection by a computer virus. But there are also times when this is not the reason, and I recommend you take the following checks before heading to a Safety Forum for cleaning PC viruses.

Check Installed Programs

The first thing to check is how many programs you have installed on your PC. In general, users have the habit of installing all programs that we may use, and then when we do not need to use them any more, we forgot to uninstall it. This is a mistake, since the accumulation of programs is a major factor for the slow computer.

Go to Control Panel, and click Add Or Remove Programs item. In the Programs list, select those utilities we do not use more and then hit Remove button. If your computer does not allow you to delete some program, do not uninstall it, you can search for that program on Internet. Maybe it’s a virus, or it may be very necessary for your PC.

Disk Space

Another factor that slows the machine is free space on the hard drive, especially when we do not have much RAM or work with graphics and videos. As we know, every computer uses a certain amount of hard disk space as ram.

RAM. You might have little RAM, or that this has been damaged (believe it or not it can get broken easily). If you have a Desktop PC, I recommend you to go to a computer store and ask him to change or increase the RAM. This is very cheap and not worth testing. If what you are using is a laptop, this can be more expensive and should try other solutions before doing this.

It is very common that the QuickTime consumes a lot of memory and do not use it much. If you are a user who used much QT, we have no other option, but if not we use both, I recommend uninstalling it, or at least disable it in Task Manager, since it uses a lot of memory, and besides, it is very infectable by viruses.

Clean Registry

We can also install software to clean the registry and speed up PC, such as Amigabit Registry Cleaner, which works as a technician and it very easy to use.

Desktop Icons

Yes, believe it or not, this is a frequent cause of a slow PC. Too many desktop icons make it hard for the task manager to run, because the graphics card has to redraw the desktop all the time, and few have more icons, more work will have.

You can also add slow PC (although to a lesser extent, of course) to have many programs in the All Programs menu of PC Home. This is almost inevitable, but sometimes we tend to have multiple installations in different entries, or add entries to make us more comfortable access. We know that this makes the PC slower.

Organize Folders

One of the things that can be irritatingly slow is the File Explorer. To help we have a good streamlined organization folder. If we keep all our files directly into My Documents folder when we want we will enter hell. Try to create subfolders in it and sort the information. Ideally, there should be a folder more than 30 files.

Internet Browser

Sometimes it gets slower the browser. This can be for several reasons. The first is that we have an extra navigation bar installed. Whatever, it slows down the computer a lot. The most convenient way is to uninstall them, unless it is very necessary. Another thing that makes the PC slow are plugins. Try uninstalling or disabling some and check the results. Finally, check the homepage of your browser. Home Page can be easily changed by malware, you need to lock your homepage to a website you use frequently.

Virus Infection

Finally, I mentioned at first. If all the above solutions do not help at all, and your PC is still slow, check your PC with an Antivirus and Security frequents a forum to help you clean your PC.

Hardware

On one of the comments left on this article I add this item. One user commented that formatting your PC completely and your PC is slow. Although rare, it often happens that the problem is that it is hardware and not software that slows down our PC. It sounds weird because we usually associate a hardware failure with the overall performance of the PC, not slowing. But the truth is there are some hardware problems that slow down your PC.

If the problem is the hard drive, we take it to a technician, or replace it with a new one. But the most common problem that slows the PC is the processor temperature. Luckily there is software that allows us to measure the temperature of different parts of the PC, such as Everest, but we can also feel the temperature directly with our finger.

Open the PC casing and spin the fan by your hand, or aerate the processor in the air. Sometimes the fan is malfunctioning, and therefore the processor overheats, it begins to have trouble working. So you need to have a detailed checked over your computer.
