Conflict of interest over Verdier? Delphine Ernotte Cunci, Suez Environment

Tim writes: I have no idea of the contractural terms under which Verdier was employed nor any detail of what has happened. Unfair contracts if that is what is was are not enforceable but this may require full legal redress. This rarely happens, individuals move, power gets away with it.

However, when the matter came to light a little while ago the name Cunci was involved so I had a quick look, was not happy over what I found but wrote nothing. Perhaps she was honest, wait and see.

Now lets turn to Mrs. Cunci’s apparent duty as a governmental appointee. (statements by CSA appointment are easy to find as is the widespread questioning of her suitability)

The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) was instituted under the law of 17 January 1989 with the charge of guaranteeing broadcasting communication freedom in France. It is the successor to the Haute Autorité de la communication audiovisuelle (1982-1986), and to the Commission nationale de la communication et des libertés (1986-1989). Her words include restoring trust in French television. I’ll leave it to competent French readers to take a good look and maybe tell blog readers what else is says.

She admits the Suez connection and elsewhere has made a declaration of interest. (don’t have the link to hand, French TV site)

There is no sign she knows anything at all about meteorology, or climate, or technical work. I think it reasonable to assume Verdier has a tad more expertise.

All of which leaves me wondering what else is submerged in the murky world.
