Massive Army Combing Operation In Kupwara’s Manigah Forests To Track Infiltrated Militants

After the killing of Colonel Santosh Mahadi of 41 Rashtriya Rifles the army has launched a massive combing operation in the Manigah forests of Kupwara Distrit of North Kashmir to track down the militants.
According to sources cited by Indian Express the operation has been taken by 41 Rashtriya Rifles, 16 Grenadiers, 160 Territorial Army Battalion and 4 Para. A cordon has also been established in the Haihama area around 25 villages, which are very close to the Line of Control.
It is believed seven to nine militants have been infiltrated in the area from across the border. They have recently sneaked into the Valley and all area heavily equipped.
The officer monitoring the operation said the operation could be one of the toughest in recent past and the troops are already engaged in it.
Meanwhile, the army has paid floral tributes to the 39-year-old Colonel for his valour and sacrifice in a solemn ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment amid presence of top army officers including Northern Commander Lt Gen D S Hooda, and officers from BSF and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Col Mahadik was from Maharashtra and had been earlier awarded with a Sena Medal for gallantry during Operation Rhino in 2003 in the North-East.
