Cold Fusion Again
Reader calling himself “Axil” made a very interesting comment to earlier blog posting about cold fusion and gave several links to works about which I had not been aware of. This inspired a fresh look to cold fusion from TGD perspective.
During years I have developed two models of cold fusion and the decision to build a more quantitative model led to a model combining these models together. The basic idea of the resulting TGD based model of cold is that cold fusion occurs in two steps. First dark nuclei (large heff=n× h) with much lower binding energy than ordinary nuclei are formed at magnetic flux tubes possibly carrying monopole flux. These nuclei can leak out the system along magnetic flux tubes. Under some circumstances these dark nuclei can transform to ordinary nuclei and give rise to detectable fusion products.
An essential additional condition is that the dark protons can decay to neutrons rapidly enough by exchanges of dark weak bosons effectively massless below atomic length scale. This allows to overcome the Coulomb wall and explains why final state nuclei are stable and the decay to ordinary nuclei does not yield only protons. Thus it seems that the model inspired by Pollack’s findings combined with the TGD variant of Widom-Larsen model could explain nicely the existing data. In particular, the model explains the strange findings about cold fusion – in particular the fact that only stable nuclei are produced and the composition of produced nuclei is the naturally occurring one- and suggests that also ordinary nuclear reactions might have more fundamental description in terms of similar model. This would mean the replacement of the existing models of nuclear physics with much deeper and simpler theory.
After this unifying step I am convinced that cold fusion is real. There is no doubt about it. Not only because TGD explains all the peculiar observations interpreted by skeptics as a sign of fraud but also because the success of the model gives very strong support for p-adic length scale hypothesis, dark matter hierarchy with dark matter residing at magnetic flux tubes, and also dark variants of weak interaction physics. Also a precise quantitative view about large parity breaking in living matter leading to chiral selection emerges. Also a concrete suggestion for making cold fusion effective manner to produce energy and new elements by transmutation emerges: the problem of old approaches is that dark nuclei leaks out from the system along magnetic flux tubes.
In the article and new chapter (see links below) I will describe the steps leading to the TGD inspired model for cold fusion combining the earlier TGD variant of Widom-Larsen model with the model inspired by the TGD inspired model of Pollack’s fourth phase of water using as input data findings from laser pulse induced cold fusion discovered by Leif Holmlid and collaborators. I consider briefly also alternative options (models assuming surface plasma polariton and heavy electron). After that I apply TGD inspired model in some cases (Pons-Fleischman effect, bubble fusion, and LeClair effect).
