Whether it’s a cantaloupe, an anthill, or even raw steak, there’s no shortage of what’s possible for testing the effects of casting or pouring molten metal in or on natural objects – at least, as evidenced by a rising tide of YouTube videos of people doing just that.
While pouring molten aluminum in both anthills (unoccupied) and cantaloupes yielded some fairly impressive results, YouTube user Tito4re recently turned his attention to pouring molten copper into a coconut.
“My videos are mostly about melting copper and pouring it on random things … so sit back relax and let me do the dangerous stuff.”
As for what the interior cavity of a coconut casts, well – let’s just say that the method for removing the cast just might be more entertaining than the cast itself:

Until now I thought the stupidest thing a man can do is reading BIN articles,but pouring copper into a coconut is even stupider.
WTF did I just watch????
Well, there’s three minutes and twenty eight seconds of my life I’ll never get back…
WHY GOD?
Why did he keep the milk in??????
Why didn’t he cool it in a bucket of water????

What an idiot. Why didn’t he remove the water from the coconut first, then dry out the coconut for a few hours in an oven? Now all he’s got is an ugly lump of disgustingly oxidised copper, which he’s going to have to cut in at least 4 pieces to get it back into a crucible again and make it into something better.
Doing anything like this can be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS because of all the commonly smelted metals, copper melts at 1083C, which is pretty high. One time I did a copper pour and without thinking about it I just dumped the excess, about the size of half a walnut onto the concrete floor next to the mold which I had in a sandbath and within a few seconds, the concrete exploded and I got molten copper sequins all over me. Could’ve been worse.
