2. NASA wants no high-power microscope for the Mars 2020 rover mission (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_2020 ). High-power microscope can visualize cells as small as one micrometer across.

3. NASA’s Phoenix lander used a high-power microscope on Mars (atomic force microscope, see http://samlab.epfl.ch/page-63609-en.html), but 99% of its images can be seen only by hackers and a few others.

4. There is little liquid water on Mars now. Gale Crater of Mars once had much more liquid water for millions of years. However, Curiosity rover spent most of her time there looking for rocks instead of life. NASA scientists even cannot identify correctly the rocks in Gale Crater (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUnm3GBWfII&list=UUmezjxs9Iqhzk_8ujzqFoSg ).
